Mining the mythos is fine, just keep wokism out. Otherwise I don’t care if you lose $150 million.

Some of the films and TV shows produced by the Disney regime have, admittedly, been splendid. Rogue One was thrilling. It delivered sheer spectacle and fun better than any of the Star Wars sequels — despite, or because, of a downbeat ending that saw the deaths of the principal cast.

That's why it was good.

Rogue One was thrilling.

Rogue One was awful. It sucked and was a sign the franchise was in freefall.

Star wars was never that great in the first place. If it weren’t for Marcia Lukas having reediting the movie, the British version was a humor film Grade B. She turned it into what it was, and it was a terrible movie. So much was missing and she had a hard time getting any continuity.

Originally Star Wars main audience was nerdy boys and young men. That is who bought the Lego sets and other merchandise. Disney is producing products that cater to women and transexuals and turning off their core audience. I don’t think a software game with a female lead will be successful.

I don’t understand the pig headiness of converting what boys like to girl preferences. You don’t see them coming out with a male version of Little Women or male version of Barbie in the suburbs. Most young men think Star Wars is deader than a leisure suit.

IMHO The Force Awakens was about the same level or lower than the prequels. Certainly not better like this writer feels. The next one The Last Jedi killed the franchise for me and a legion of other fans. I know I wasn’t alone. Since then I haven’t watched anything new out of the Star Wars franchise. I loved it before Lucas sold it to Disney and in retrospect The Force Awakens is now something I’m trying to forget along with The Last Jedi.

Beyond Star Wars I also stopped going to movies in general and watching network tv about the same time. Good bad or indifferent it’s all over for me. Big entertainment isn’t getting any of my dollars anymore.

Star Wars is not declining.

With the lesbian space witch saga of The Acolyte: Star Wars is Dead.

I used to be one of the biggest Star Wars fans around. I did a LOT out of love for the saga. Even had a Star Wars-themed marriage proposal to my (now ex) wife. I've been able to meet most of the cast of the first two trilogies, including an afternoon spent with Carrie Fisher.

What Disney has done to the franchise, especially The Acolyte, turned me off of Star Wars forever.

Okay, not ALL of it. I still have the Blu-rays of episodes 1-6. But everything else is dead to me.

Has anyone else caught some of the Flash Gordon silver screen serials from the 1930’s and 1940’s?

So much of what is in those serials ended up almost straight-up copied into in the first three Star Wars movies by George Lucas. It’s kind of shocking actually.

How can any discussion about when Star Wars hit the skids take place without the word “Ewok” front and center?

I turned off Solo about 2/3 of the way through and never bothered to watch the rest of it. Seems like Rogue One was kind of okay. The rest were so lame that I can't remember which is which. I couldn't tell you what the plots were about.

I loved the original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back. I even loved Return of the Jedi, although I do think that if I had been a little older when it came out I would have been more aware of the schmaltziness of the Ewoks.

My sons say it’s been all downhill since “Battlefront II” and “Knights of the Old Republic”, except for one that was okay but I don’t remember the name of it.

It was over with Episode 8...actually before that since they have since admitted what was obvious - they had no set plan or storyline and had zero respect for the storyline they were supposed to be adhering to as though there was no established source material.

Rogue One is the only decent Star Wars product released since Disney took over.

It started when they added in the original 3rd movie, the furries called Ewoks that were put in the movie solely for selling toys. The next set of 3 movies were not good. A kid racing, a whiny soon to be Darth Vader. The other movies that followed were terrible. Some will say they liked Rogue One but I think it is because everyone died in that story....

Like Indiana Jones, the studio just had to do that stupid Crystal Skull movie. I have not seen the bomb that was the latest. Just clips and read the reviews.
