Since his selection as Donald Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance has performed poorly on most metrics by which we judge vice-presidential nominees. He has never been noted for his charisma, and his attacks and insults have rendered him exceptionally unpopular. None of that is even remotely true.
Since Timmy Tampon is swirling the drain they have to pretend Vance is, too.

so-called deep state?
Is the Slimes trying to deny that the deep state exists now? Weren't they formerly trying to convince us that the deep state is awesome?

Mr. Trump’s persona has been the essence of his appeal — his policies matter more for the way they create and sustain that persona than they do for their substantive impact. One of the most stupid statements I've ever read. People support Trump because he came along and stated policy positions many voters believed were best for this country, but which had been rejected by most in both parties for years.

“But can there be a Trumpism beyond Mr. Trump? “
The unique thing about Trump isn’t what he believes, rather it is how tough he is when he expresses those completely traditional thoughts and is viciously and unfairly and illegally attacked.
Vance will be fine.

If Biden was cogent enough to write a hit piece, this NY Times hit piece is the piece he would write. Congratulations to the Times for channeling their former candidate.

and his attacks and insults have rendered him exceptionally unpopular. Only among people who hate him anyway and would never vote for him because they oppose everything that needs to happen in this country.
We don't care about these people. We *WANT* them to hate him, because they are sh*tty people and deserve the pain they will feel when he wins.

In a way the Times is coorect: Unless Trump and the GOP can do something about the Civil Service Act the bureaucracy will simply wait them out.
The real key is to fix the universities, and the left's Achilles heel there is accrediation.

“It may be hard to recall after weeks of talk about “cat ladies,” but Mr. Vance, as much as virtually anyone else in Mr. Trump’s orbit, has tried to put ideological and policy meat on the MAGA bones.”
The “talk” about “cat ladies” has been entirely from the media, and Vance was pretty accurate in what he actually said. Also, why is “virtually” in there? Who else, apart from Trump, is even close? Oh, and “tried?” MAGA has plenty of policy behind it, and a track record. To the extent that they have tried, they have succeeded.

"We" being the folks at the NY Times.
"Performed poorly on most metrics by which" the folks at the NY Times "judge vice-presidential nominees" - that equates to someone I'll cast a vote for. The last thing I want is any creature the NY Times likes.
