[Shocking leak suggests your phone really is listening in on your conversations]

People just rolled their eyes when I told them this was technologically-feasible - perhaps even with the battery out

Very few believed me.

Phone? What phone? No cell phone for me! Hate the dang things. Hopefully,i can get through my rmeain8ng years without one, but the chances of that are dwindling as more and more places require a cell phone to do business with.

Always throw in a few keywords in your phone conversations to alert NSA/AT&T/whoever to listen in.

I’m sure they are entertained by my conversations with my 94 year old mom who has rather severe dementia.

The little details lefty DM fails to focus upon:

404 Media knew about this back in 2023.

MindSift claims the following:

“50+ Happy Customers / 470+ Data Sources / 40M+ Leads Provided”

https://www.mindsift.com/about

So, then, DumbassMail: Who ARE the “50+ Happy Customers???”

And Camera... But they have been doing it for many years now. Not just phones but your computer also. I found Google doing this at youtube many years ago. I had just started using Firefox as a browser and went to youtube. Firefox gave me a request message:

“Youtube is requesting access to your Camera and Microphone, allow? disallow?”

And I was NOT logged in... I only landed there.

Yes it does. We have done experiments. We now use Faraday bags and leave them near noise when we want privacy. Turning them off does not stop them from analyzing conversation or location.

“The pitch deck goes on to tout Facebook, Google and Amazon as clients of CMG, suggesting they could be using its Active-Listening service to target users.”

And Facebook, Google and Amazon sell it all to the government.

I meet with a group of friends every now and then for breakfast. We're all at least 70 years old, and ond day last year were discussing the cars of our youth and how difficult it would be to get in and out of them these days.

A couple days later I got an email from the local hospital that was holding a seminar for us older folks. The topic was basically "How To Fit Your Vehicle", and its aim was to help us purchase a vehicle that cooperated with our mobility issues.

It was probably just random chance, but a bit eerie just the same.

Experiment time:

Each day for a couple of weeks, lay your phone on the kitchen table and tell your dog all about the Volkswagen Jetta that you really want to buy. Never look for Jettas on the web (or even mention in your gmail). See if you start getting Jetta ads when browsing the web.

Who didn’t know that. Can’t tell you how many times I have had conversation with family members and 20 minutes later something comes up on my internet link regarding what we talked about.

Some of the guys at the fire station were sitting around the dinner table talking about a suicide call they had run. One of the guys pipes up and says “I almost committed suicide when a guy pulled out...” and his phone which is laying on the table starts “if you have been having suicidal thoughts, please call...”

On iPhones, go into Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh. Turn off all you don’t need to have running all the time. For me, all are turned off. They will temporarily turn on when you choose to run them and they are the primary app on your screen.

Additionally, go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Microphone and turn off everything you don’t want listening to you.

Finally, be sure to unload from memory any apps you don’t need to have using up active memory at this moment. To do this, press down on the bottom of your screen and drag your finger upward. This will show your running apps as overlays over each other. For any program you don’t want using active memory, use your finger to press down on that app and flick it upward, and it will fly off your screen. Scroll through all apps.

These steps should help address all microphone concerns.

Another thing I would do is turn off, or trim down, Location Services for your apps. Go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Location Services. For those you don’t need constantly seeing where you are, turn them off or change them to “While Using” or “While Shared” (this is also “Ask Next Time or When I Share,” inside the specific setting).

Also, in Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Local Network, turn off all apps you don’t specifically need to talk to a device on your network. Printing from an app does not need this on, because your phone will print for you and it has permission you can’t turn off. Apps use this to identify all of your users and devices to catalog who you associate with and what sort of devices and security you have. They can then sell this to data brokers. Note that AirDrop should still work fine, as that, too, is permission you can’t turn off here.

Consider removing apps you will never again use from your main screen. Each time programs are run, and potentially when they get upgraded, they scan your phone for signs of other software and settings. Apple prevents some of this, but not all.

I keep saying “Trump” and “Maga” over and over. I toss in a DeSantis or two, and a couple “drill baby, drill”. Think maybe they’ll offer me a new “Trump 2024” banner?
