They may be going through forensics at the scene, and elsewhere as on the campus itself, if the perpetrator was on campus, or connected with the university.

They don’t want to risk tampering.

If the university connection, the university and law enforcement, may be keeping this low key due to the shock.

The reason I don't think it is forensics or tampering that have them holding back the name of the man they have in custody is this:

How can someone give Whitewater Police information if they without information about the name of the man they arrested ?
