We have that same tiller and it IS a PITA at times. Luckily, Beau is a whiz at getting it running.

I’m DROOLING over that hoop house! I sure hope all of your gardening dreams come true; you are certainly working hard enough at it! :)

Hooray for me. I remembered to make a note in the garden journal for the two trays I sowed this morning. I’m too good at making plans but suck at keeping track of what I actually do.

Now that it’s warmed up, the wrinkles in the film showed up. There are none in the morning. I’m off to play in the sun and try to get wrinkles out. If I can’t get them all out, no big deal. I know the plastic is snug enough to not flap in the breeze.

Fall is my favorite season and I am looking forward to some crisp, non-humid, cooler air.

I had big plans for this afternoon, doing prep work for the raised bed flower garden site (putting down shingles & covering with mulch) There was a shower this morning and it’s been raining steadily since about 3:00 so no outdoor work today.

In the shop, I did complete the safety rails on ‘the pit’. My data connection is so slow, I can’t post a picture right now.

The rain lately has been pretty good here, so the drought situation is likely mild now rather than severe. The thunder is rumbling in the distance, but no lightning. It’s not windy so I can sit on the porch & enjoy the slightly cooler air & the sound of rain coming through the tree leaves - very peaceful.

I have some Anchor Hocking ones that I picked up at WM, however, I tend to use them for spices and nuts in the freezer.

They’re great for preventing freezer burn.

Anchor Hocking DOES produce good glass. American Made! :)

Their blog has some smart ideas:

Anchor Hocking. Storage glassware found at Menards in the grocery section. (A smart idea...Husband needs to bring home milk or food or groceries or food he can get it at the lumber store!)

I LOVE that Menard’s has some grocery items, now. I always buy my canning supplies there. Pet food and birding supplies, too.

Mom loves ‘Black Label’ bacon, and when they have their ‘fill this bag for 11% off’ sale, her bag is always full of bacon, LOL!

I saw the Made in America and knew Anchor Hocking was a good name brand. That’s why I bought them.

This is a one gallon anchor hocking glass jug. I just love it but really have no use for it. Would be great to take to a party filled with maybe pickles, fruit salad... 714-US1-Ac-B8-L-AC-SL1500

It’s about 7:15 & sunrise was at 6:44. Sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee - the sun has made it over the Blue Ridge mountains to the east & yesterday’s rain is twinkling like diamonds on the grass. Fog is rising along the river, not half a mile away. There is a slight breeze now & again. All is quiet except for the crows, who have started conversing for the day.

Checking the weather forecast, the word that keeps appearing is “refreshing”! It’s currently 64° & the humidity today is expected to be low & getting lower as the day goes on. Lows tonight in the 40’s ... I would call that briskly refreshing :-) This is what I call “flannel” weather - a flannel shirt over a t-shirt is perfect to keep any chill away & when the sun is out & warm, the flannel is easily discarded.

With no garden this year, I am missing seeing a tired garden, energy expended & needing a cleanup. Last year, I took the last tomatoes of the season, still green, & made green tomato relish & chutney .... so good! My niece started a program to get her RN last year & decided a garden was one thing too many - she missed having one terribly. This year, joy returned with fresh veggies & flowers galore. I look forward to the same next year, with new & transported raised beds, ready for planting. So the last sip of coffee & it’s time to “get a foot in the path” getting the new garden(s) set up: flowers & tomatoes for mom, medicinal herbs, jalapeños, & some flowers for me. With the weather cooperating (at last!) & working on a new garden, it’s just so ‘refreshing’!

A squirrel just noticed me on the porch & is cussing me out LOL! I’m gone ... it can have the oak tree (now with acorns) next to the porch all to itself.

It would be perfect filled with these! My 'Candy Jar' is usually full of them for our Foster Son who is tall, skinny as a stick and loves chocolate as much as I do! ;)

Your future garden is having a ‘soil building year.’ Also necessary in the whole of Life! ;)

I broke my foot one August when all of the garden was in high production. I had to stay off of it for 6 weeks, which was very hard for me to do! Lots of people helped harvest and I shared the bounty with whoever helped pick. I did NO canning that season, and that gave me a good mental break, too!

Will check in later. Today we are going to our County Fair to check out the animals (we love those 4-H Kids; they work so hard!) and to watch Harness Racing, and then to the Exhibitor’s Hall to see if my crocheted Afghan, four samples of canned goods and two photos won any ribbons.

Weather looks perfect - only 74 today, so it might even be chilly in the shade of the racetrack - won’t THAT be nice? ;)

My neighbors love my yard decorations - I am one of the only homoes for blocks around that does this, not a day goes by that I don’t get a neighbor telling me how much it cheers them up to see holiday decor. I wonder why more people don’t decorate their yards - or at least their porches.

I do have one crazy neighbor who keeps up a Christmas sleigh, Santa and reindeer all year and then dresses them up for the different holidays. Not my favorite....
