As weed has become easier to obtain, it has become harder to smoke.A strange thing has happened on the path to marijuana legalization. Users across all ages and experience levels are noticing that a drug they once turned to for fun and relaxation now triggers existential dread and paranoia. “The density of the nugs is crazy, they’re so sticky,” a friend from college texted me recently. “I solo’d a joint from the dispensary recently and was tweaking just walking around.” (Translation for the non-pot-savvy: This strain of marijuana is not for amateurs.)

Went to Alamagorda NM a couple months back. Noticed that pot dispensary shops were everywhere. In a 2 mile stretch on the main drag we counted about a dozen of these authorized pot shops.
My wife and I just shook our heads, knowing the damage that liberal pot use has on the young and society in general.
Oh.
Thanks.
There is a certain truth to this
Only someone with high tolerance can take a big think joint today alone or split with two folks
The real overkill is gummies honestly
No one drinks PGA or untamed shine as a rule as just a regular daily drink
This happened to my Sister. She died mentally ill.
Once you get beyond say 15-20% THC cannabis I’ve found consumers are more strain preferential than strength bound
They would rather have a 22% strain they like over a 30% strain they are ambivalent about
And boomers and Xers still prefer sativa which few growers like given harvest time and yield over Indica
Younger folks lean more couch lock Indica strain
But yes overall super strength weed is kind of hype
Would you rater drunks and alcoholic? Around 50% of of your domestics are alcohol related and probably 30 + percent of your motor vehicle accidents.
I’ve been partaking since the 1970s and there’s always been very strong pot available... It cost a lot more, but it’s always been there. The good news (at least in Canada) is that the prices have dropped by 500% and more since legalization and illegal weed sells even cheaper than Government weed... Two thirds of Canadians in a recent survey said they still bought their weed illegally.
I didn’t agree with legalization, and I figured that the illegal market would likely adjust and it did. It doesn’t and never did cost $280 to grow an ounce of pot... The actual cost associated with growing it can be counted in pennies... Less than 10 cents per ounce. The profit margin was and still is enormous, but with super duper pot now selling for $50 per ounce illegally instead of two to three hundred per ounce, the government doesn’t stand a chance.
none of the above ...
Its not an either/or scenario. The damage this pot everywhere stuff is doing serious damage to the young.
The idiots of NM passed this liberal pot law allowing “dispensary’s” to peddle the crap in almost every town. Medicinal use? Yea, right.
Nothing worse than a twenty something paranoid pot head, which usually morphs to meth head and heroin use.
Do you have children or grandchildren? How much pot are you buying for them?
You know that isn’t going to happen, it’s been tried.
Children and grandchildren, pot’s been around long before any of them were born, so have all the other drug’s. I don’t recall any of my pot smoking friends (And I had a lot of them) turn into meth or Heroin addicts.
I’ll bet Refer Madness is your favorite show.
In Phoenix half of the billboards are advertising pot dispensaries- the other half lawyers.
After 55 years experience I can proffer that your average stoned driver is not near the danger a drunk or impaired driver is to others
Not that we need either on the road
And like booze it’s a matter of degrees
I never had any issue driving stoned (this is decades old)
Folks here who’ve never smoked don’t realize the difference
However there are degrees and someone so stoned it’s bordering on tripping should obviously not drive
Honestly it’s impossible to explain what THC is like to those who’ve never smoked
It’s unique and in mild consumption it’s pleasant to probably 90% who try it
I stress mild strength for virgins
Not high grade indoor or concentrates
Most people I know smoke and I’m 67 in November and in the actual south
Some daily most nightly
I know folks 80 who smoke and have since Woodstock or Vietnam
Nearly everyone I know is conservative pro Trump
I quit 30 years ago it just quit fitting in to my life
But I know the industry
Anyhow it’s simply not the devil drug it’s portrayed by some here in general
The negative impacts of booze in our culture dwarf that of weed
Worst I’ve seen of heavy weed use is laziness procrastination and the occasional panic attack
Heavy dose concentrates are def a risk for all but heavy users
Light dose concentrates and edibles are a decent route though for those worried about their lungs
Were I to smoke I prefer a joint of medium high grade sativa dominant
Sativa is more stimulating
Indica is more couch lock and twinkies
I’ve seen weed and alcohol abuse up close around me
I can deal with an apathetic lazy stoner any day over a daily drunk
Not even close
One last caveat on weed
I’ve come to believe high test weed products much like psychedelics have the possibility to trigger psychosis in folks with existing mental disease like adult onset schizophrenia
But I couch that saying I know someone who is precisely that and lives on the drug abilify which is an anti psychotic and they always have a thc vape pen around
And they have a huge trump sign in their yard
Weed is good for sex it should be noted no question of that unlike booze which raises testosterone in women which is nice but can be sloppy
Pot tends to intensify the senses if that makes sense used moderately for that
I’ve smoked pot on a regular basis for a number of years, and never noticed any adverse effect on my mental HEY!!! WHO LET THOSE FLAMINGOES IN HERE?????
THAT”S where I left them.
We were on our way to Costco and got distracted.
Cigarettes bad. Weed good. Beam me up Lord!!
Lol! In full disclosure, I’m a recovering IPA beer feind. I think alcohol is much worse than weed. I’m just blessed that I was only a problem drinker and never a full alcoholic. (However, my college MadDog 20/20 probably caused pink flamingo inducing brain damage that I’ll never remember.)
Neighbor kid raised in a Christian family got into marijuana. He’s now a full fledged schizophreniac
Difference in weed and alcohol use. I can drink my whiskey and not have the entire neighborhood smell it. I despise the skunk ass smell of weed.
Same here, only it was in the mid-80s as I was approaching 30. I don't know if the dope changed or if I did, but it just wasn't fun any more.
Then I worked in an industry where drug testing was required, so I didn't smoke for decades. Now I'm retired and I suppose I could get high again, but I just don't want to. I've practically quit drinking, too, not sure why.
