When conservative activists set aflame boxes of Bud Light and urged a boycott in response to an endorsement from a trans influencer last spring, they sent sales of the beer plummeting in a rare success in the long history of consumer movements.
Even more improbably, the backlash continues to hammer Bud Light and strain independent local wholesalers more than a year later, according to third-party sales data shared with ABC News as well as interviews with six Anheuser-Busch wholesalers.
Most of the wholesalers, small- and medium-sized businesses that draw a significant portion of their revenue from Bud Light, said they remain weakened by the decline in sales and uncertain about when, if ever, the brand will fully recover.

The owner of an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in the Northeast, whose child is trans, told ABC News they have taken a 30% pay cut to make up for the losses and are considering retirement.
Name?
Where’s the pride, dude?
Having a kid who is trans is something to be proud of, isn’t it?
NBAers like Dwayne Wade parades around his trans kid as a celebration of his wokeness.
Wokeness is nothing to be ashamed of is it?
I QUESTION if this clown really exists.
The fact that ABC News reported is a red flag to start with.
Remember when Roe v Wade was overturned and some woman doctor claimed to have performed an abortion on a twelve year old?
As I remember the doctor remained anonymous and the story was never verified and therefore was hoax.
I agree. I will consider buying Bud Light once again when they offer a public apology to the public and their employees.
In my opinion...
Yep - they got exactly what that DEI androgynous hire was hired to do.
Their bread and butter - working class men and women who were dedicated to an American brand -were suddenly spit aside with contempt for being ‘fratty’.
They destroyed their brand to make a social statement and though everyone would be ok with that.
THEN, they doubled down by releasing a commercial depicting Americans as white trash rednecks, thinking we would all connect with that and forgive and forget.
Didi they think the. 05% of the population they wanted to impress by putting this mental freak in a bubblebath for the world to see would actually purchase their urine water? Did they think hard working Americans would continue to buy their product after some ugly a$$ man-woman Bud Light VP laughingly and hatefully said they were of no further use to the Bud Light brand?
As an American, I say, good riddance. BTW, is that VP still employed?
Did Bud Lite every really apologize for using Mulvany, or did they stay something like “We apologize to the racist, women-hating, right-wing extremists who may have been upset by our choice to use the WOMAN, Dylan Mulvany, in our advertising campaign.”
If I had to guess, probably the above.
There is no such thing as conservative business schools.
I don’t know why people would drink this beer. There are so many better options.
This article also didn’t mention that that ad made fun of women and said they don’t know anything about sports.
Well I guess Wharton was the last bastion.
They’ve supposedly lost over a billion dollars. I doubt they’ll recover.
Let this be a lesson to corporate America: Don’t use a tranny to promote your product to working class Americans.
After spending the last year enjoying good beer, I was given a bud light to drink… not sure what people see in BL. Tastes like bubbly water. Not going to miss them when they are gone forever.
I remember one of their young marketing female guru saying she wanted to “de-Frat” the brand.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she still has her job, she seemed to have a handle on Bud Light’s base: Working class Americans, right?
You sure ‘learned’ them, didn’t you.
The Board of Directors of the parent company and Senior Execs are still in place.
When they resign en masse then the boycott can lift.
The actual lesson is that we do have the power to effect change when we stick together.
This tells me that management hasn’t really studied the thing or is uninterested in what happened. “Conservative” activists are being blamed despite a fall in sales too large to ascribe only to conservative customers - it was, in fact, a widespread rejection of the suddenly taken Bud Light corporate position that transgender women belong in women’s sports. (Whether the actual management was even warned about this political stance is still being denied and I’m inclined to believe them). Bud Light’s position prior to that was studiedly and deliberately non-political. It wasn’t even the position alone that was responsible but in large part a reaction to the fact that they’d taken one. And what was lost was more than sales, it was a decade-long position at the top of the market and the prestige that offered. Now they’re down to third place and the trend isn’t looking good. This is the passengers at the rail of the Titanic fervently telling themselves that the ship isn’t sinking.
If you drink Bud Light you will go Gay. One six pack and people of your sex will start to look desirable. Only Gay people and Transgender people, and hard core Democrat Wokesters drink that brew. Drink it and your junk dries up and falls off! Sar.
Anheuser-Busch InBev’s financials for fiscal year 2023, released at the end of February 2024, indicate the company had all-time-high worldwide revenue of $59.4 billion in 2023; however, in the United States, its annual revenue fell 9.5%, with “performance impacted by volume decline of Bud Light,” the company stated in its fiscal year-end financial presentation.
It’s not a boycott any more - people have found alternatives that are better, and still relatively inexpensive. Yuengling Light Lager, for example.
