Uh oh. If Trump rejects the principles laid out in Project 2025, that could drive his base to not vote for him. Yes, he should distance himself from this document, but not completely trash it.
I don’t trust the heritage foundation. It looks like they put this huge thing out, which Trump certainly didn’t need, with the intention of making him have to defend it. Isn’t this the same bunch who publish those lists of “conservative” justice for presidents to appoint rinos to the Supreme Court?
I do think Trump needs to step outside of the terrible Republican lineup Mitch McConnell insisted on, though. No confirmation with a Republican-controlled Senate without Mitch choosing them.
With Trump's own minor choices, Donald has got a strangely-skewed belief that wealthy or good-looking people are his best choices for positions. Thus, you wind up with the Anthony Scaramucci-type boneheaded choices, that only rest on Trump's smarts.
Mitch screwed Trump on major picks, while Trump screwed himself with the Cassidy Hutchinson picks.
Ive been wanting to do a post about project 2025 but I can’t decide in what manner.
Anyway it’s quite long and I’m perhaps 1/2 the way through. Much if it is honestly sort of dry reading, talking about tax rates, costs , narrowing the scope of Gov etc.
It has hundreds if not a thousand ideas, plans and Improvements to our system. Very few seem alarming to me in anyway.
So far it seems a giant PR scare campaign by Democrats has been implemented to effect their base and organize votes. It’s hard to believe so many republicans have obligingly joined their cause. Also that moderate Kennedy thinks that is disappointing and to say the least Trump might be one as well is even more so.
Not helpful, Robert…. DEFINITELY NOT HELPFUL!
I’ve only read bits and pieces of project 2025, but what I HAVE read , it seems to me to be more centrist-establishment stuff, with a few conservative leaning things that I may agree with, but think they don’t go far enough to save the nation.
“RFK, Jr., is and always has been a loose cannon.”
He’s 90% nut job. The remaining 10% is very good, though.
RFK, Jr.: “I’ll be on the transition committee picking the people who are going to govern”
I sure hope Kennedy is blowing smoke in that statement. Several of the picks in the first Trump administration were abysmal. But I can only imagine who Kennedy might pick.
You all remember that Trump was a Democrat? Remember he awaken up a bit? He loves America. Promotes mostly sane things. Does most of what he sets out to do. He’s a populist.
He’s no hard core conservative. You take what you can get.
