I remember what Richard Burton once said about stage performance. The first time he was on stage and had to perform, he froze. He was immediately conscious of his hands... “What to do with them”?
He was terrified and had to learn to appear as if he was NOT acting. It took a while but he overcame it. (It’s why really poor actors always flap their hands, do crazy things or walk on stage with a book, hat ... umbrella, etc. They have to mask their self-consciousness)
