There’s no defining issue ...

There are at least 2 defining issues: the wide open border and rampant inflation.

Harris is like John 'I have a plan for that' Kerry of 2004. He had all kinds of plans, but like Harris, they were light or non-existent on details.

You want more housing? Stop regulating everything. Stop taxing everything. Stop using the environment as an excuse to block new construction. Stop telling developers what they can or cannot include in their development.

See a pattern here? Government interference in the economy.

Let capitalism work.

Where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government is supposed to build houses?

Maybe it is implied by the item under the "Powers of Congres": "To establish Post Offices and Post roads." Need to have houses for the mailmen to deliver mail to.

Sh’s had 3 1/2 years to build houses, why hasn’t she done it?

This isn’t a policy election. There’s no defining issue like tax cuts in 2000 or health care in 2008 or trade in 2016.

The very first sentence destroys the premise of the entire article!

You're a liar, Applebaum. There are issues out there that voters care about right in front of your face! How about the cost of food, energy, housing, things that matter to everyone? How about the cost of living?

What about the illegal invasion you are abetting? Don't you see that as an issue? Because a lot of people do.

How about the growth of government, and the consequent growth of Federal debt? Is no one bothered by that?

How about restriction of freedoms through regulation and increasing gov't meddling in private transactions, land ownership and management?

Oh, there are issues all right (these are just a few), but you and the dems don't want to talk about them, so they don't exist, apparently.

You lost me after your first sentence, it was so obviously biased. Complete BS.

“There’s no defining issue”

uh, well NYT, except for out-of-control inflation that’s destroying the middle class ... there’s that ...

oh yeah NYT, and out of control illegal immigration that’s destroying the less wealthy classes ... there’s that too ...

“Kamala Harris has a plan to address the nation’s housing crisis.”

no, NYT, Kamala SAYS she has a plan, but simply SAYING she HAS a plan isn’t ACTUALLY a plan, it’s simply a statement ...

Really? What do you call the border? How about the economy?

Deport 50 million illegals (demand) and POOOOOOOF!, no housing crisis (supply). Prices would plummet.

a necessary focus on opening land for development by removing state and local regulatory roadblocks.

I can't believe there is something in this woke-@$$ Commie platform that I actually agree with. If they would do just that one thing, combined with easing environ-MENTAL restrictions on resources, this problem could mostly resolve itself.

“Does the federal government have any significant role in any of this now?”

EOs. She’ll have a phone and a pen. It seemed to work for Biden during Covid.

... by removing state and local regulatory roadblocks.

What's conveniently not mentioned is the removal of FEDERAL roadblocks.  Can't develop land when the EPA has to protect the snail darter or some tiny, slimy invertebrate.

To a Communist like Heels Up, the U.S. Constitution shouldn't exist, especially the Tenth Amendment.

Take heart.

If gaslighting still worked, Deep State wouldn’t have to steal elections, would it?

See “easing environ-MENTAL restrictions.” That would necessarily involve removing some federal regulations.
