You have to scan a card? Big deal. Nothing to get angry about. Even less to take it out on someone else.
The Costco we go to doesn’t even ask for the membership card when we enter the store, but we haven’t been there in about two months so I guess things have changed
I don’t get this. Our Costco has always had a greeter at the door where you have to show your car. Always.
So what’s the big deal? Show your card, get in, shop.
If you have not paid for a card, you don’t belong shopping in Costco.
At Sam’s membership cards are checked on entry. One talkative checkout clerk told me that shop lifting was epidemic. Not surprising thanks to Kamala.
I have a PLUS membership with Sam's Club and JUST a hour ago found out that Sam's will charge us a $8. shipping fee on items UNDER $50.
I get many non perishable food items and as a senior I truly rely on the benefit of shipping.. so it has been worth the $100 a year to get items delivered on a regular benefit.
After today, NO MORE!!!!!!!
Don’t like it? Quit.
Sam’s Club used to have a checker at the door when you first came in, but they dropped that about a year ago.
Mine adopted it. I was a bit surprised to see it, but figured it kept people from flashing fake or expired cards and then walking out with loads of crap. I haven’t seen that at my Costco, but have heard of it happening.
Sam’s Club found it beneficial to let in non-members to browse. Most would find something they wanted to buy and would join. This is not a good move by Costco. It will slow down entry for everyone.
Easy solution. Any shopper who is abusive toward an employee should have their card taken away from them.
There is a word for that group people and every race, creed, and color is a member.
They scan your card when you pay and the visually look at it when you enter. The only time they don’t is when you are already inside and buy lunch. I don’t know how or why you can buy anything if you are not a member.
This will probably fade away in due time. Just like when they adopted self-check out. At the store I frequent, they cut the number of self-check out station in half because they were a big bottle-neck and slowed down the check out process.
(disturbing details on the “abuse and mistreatment” workers have faced from irate customers who now have to scan their cards.)
I’m sure
Costco is probably losing a lot from theft
Retail theft is very high
A lot of people think that they have a “right” to steal
Costco is a business, not a daycare.
Question: can family members enter with the one card? If not, I can see a problem.
They can quit and customers don’t need to go to Costco.
It’s a membership store.
The degradation of society has made them need to enforce the membership — which we pay for — aspect.
Freeloaders want to freeload.
Keep them out.
They should also implement 2 adults only per card policy. That would stop all the hispanics from bringing in their entire families plugging up the aisles.
BS post!
