For 50s music I like the origins of rock n roll like Chuck Berry, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Les Paul, and many, many more, but the doo-wop was pretty close to rock n roll in some areas too. I really like old blues recordings from the 1920s and 1930s too. Many of us metalhead punks respect and enjoy a lot of it.
I LOVE Chuck Berry.. I had 2 LPs that were orange see through (limited edition) that my dad had passed to me.
Also, so many songs that I wish I could remember the names of that we had on 8-track.
I think he stopped buying 8-tracks when Elvis died... I remember when that happened (think it was 1978?).
We were in his black Silverado shortbed driving to his helicopter when the news came on that Elvis had passed away.
I remember him saying that Elvis should have stayed away from drugs.. (I also remember the Elvis 8-track tapes were limited edition blue)
Ever since then, I avoided Elvis because I hate drugs... (as I have gotten older, I respect his music.. but still, hate drugs).
