Fort Morgan and vicinity used to be such a fun place to roam and explore when I was a kid. It was free and totally open to explore. I recall the “blood of Confederate soldier” sign, which later the curators insisted on saying it wasn’t true. There was a flowing well just outside the fort from which water and natural gas both flowed. At night you could set it afire to see flaming water. Inside the fort an old cannon lay lose in one of the dark back passageways. The last time I was there was about 30 years ago. Just not the same.
