Right. We wouldn't want colleges and universities to teach useless courses like history, would we?

Nope, Diversity is correct. College is nothing but a money grab scam unless you are going into a hard science.

The fact that most of our colleges have become nests of leftist infestation and are vastly overpriced for what they offer doesn’t invalidate the importance of the humanities.

One of the main problems with all education now is that it’s geared toward mere ‘job training’ (when it isn’t engaged in social engineering.) These institutions are no longer involved in any sort of real education.

Rush Limbaugh once said that the purpose of University is to teach one how to think.

But the ignorance of history, literature, art, philosophy, of the average university student today, compared to even 50 years ago, is frightening.

Change the money grab. College is a 1,000 year old plus idea. If you choose well, you help form the man. My political science degree from Christendom College did not stop me from a career in IT, but it also made me a better husband, father and member of the community.

The real scam is labelling trade schools as colleges and charging college prices and getting college administration. My father went to electronics school, not college, and built a career on it. My brother in law went from Connecticut to Denver to Diesel Mechanic School, not college, and built a career on that. By telling a bunch of people who just want a decent job that they have to goto college, they ruined the job seekers and the colleges.

That wouldn’t be a college. That would be a tech institute. Nothing wrong with that, but Philosophy, History, Humanities are the heart of a true University.

That is, or what used to be, a liberal arts education. Of course now with CRT and gender studies and DEI it’s all been polluted.

Not all. I transferred to Christenfom College (accepts NO fed funding). Hillsdale, College of the Ozarks, Grove City, Thomas Aquinas Colllege, Wyoming Catholic College, and some small schools I don’t know about are still okay in that regard.

Good point. They are so because they take no federal funds.

All good schools. I think there’s one in New, KY, that is similar. Bob Jones also accepts no money from government. Not sure about Liberty, or Lee University in Cleveland, TN.

History would be useful if it was true, but it’s all lies and lefty propaganda. How many schools teach the truth about 9/11 or the 2020 elections.?

Humanities are garbage. Words about words. Only technical skills count.

Yes. The truth is mixed with lies...but it can still be found.

It has to be found. It takes work and determination.

The truth about Marx is available for all to see. And about communism in Russia and in China...and in the U.S.

If we turn our backs on history because various parties have tried to rewrite and/or destroy it, we are doomed as a species.

Depending on the outcome of the upcoming election, we may be doomed anyway.

BTW, according to some of our brightest scientists (like Eric Weinstein), science has been ruined because it has been invaded by politics.

The only defense against dangerous politics (i.e., Marxism known by any name) is our knowledge of its methods and its nature. This means we MUST know history.

STEM without a knowledge of the history of totalitarianism will prove to be worthless. Scientific investigation requires objectivity. The politics of collectivism seeks to destroy objectivity and pervert science to its own purposes.

We must know our enemy. To know our enemy, we must know its history.
