“The horn in my car is broken. Watch for finger.”.....
And don’t get it shot off! LOL
I hate GMs Daytime Running Lights that you cannot turn off.
“I need a voice activated horn so I can swear at another driver and the horn will sound. “
Wow that just gave me the greatest idea; hook up a Peter Frampton type talk box to the horn, hit the horn and swear away!
NOT just GM
How about the new headlights?
The plastic covers get fuzzy quickly and require maintenance-—A HEADLIGHT COVER !!!!
THE BULB for the headlight is small-—sensitive to your skin oils & MUST be changed with GLOVES ON.
HAVE to take ALOT of parts out to get to that bulb-—and the bulbs cost around $40 each.
The GLASS BULBS IN MY 1976 1 ton truck & my 1979 Buick wagon:
Cost about $8 each. REMOVE bezel & surrounding parts-—screwdriver only needed. PULL dead headlight. PUSH new one into place. REPLACE BEZEL & surrounds.
IF careful, no re-adjustment of lights needed.
IF NEEDED-—I park facing garage door at night-—use the level bars on the garage door to level up the headlights.
EASY PEASY. BEFORE I HAD ONLY A CARPORT, so I would go to a business that had brick wall or garage doors to do this chore.
Agreed. I also lament the loss of the front bench seat.
Have you ever had someone park so close to your driver’s door that you couldn’t open it wide enough to get in? With a bench seat, you just go in the passenger side and slide over. No big console in the way.
His channel is one of my favorites. He loves the mostly unloved land yachts of the 60s and 70s which I have come to realize are wonderful machines.
The other day I saw a video where he was profiling a 1974 Mercury Marquis — I want to say it had a 460 engine in fact — and was thinking about how great it would be to float down the highway in that thing.
lol — it would put an end to road rage because people would be able to express their feelings fully
DO YOU YIELD, LIKE I DO? ... NO YOU DO NOT!
etc.
“They fear getting shot! ;-)”
No kidding. It always crosses my mind.
It doesn't have the driver shutoff control? What kind of car?
I just watched that too, and it was timely as I was discussing bumpers with my brother in light of the fact that my daughter just got rear ended in her Crosstrek for the third time. I said if modern cars had 1974 bumpers there wouldn’t be any repairs needed. Instead it’s another $3500 trip to the body shop.
She is starting to think that her car is actually invisible, between the accidents and people cutting her off. Now she wants a full size pickup truck.
I did not realize that devilish feature was so prevalent.
“By 2022, over 95% of all new cars were equipped with a start-stop function according to some sources”
My newest car is 2019, basically designed in 2010, and I will never buy another. ICE, manual trans, real gauges, no start-stop.
“Amazon sells 12 Volt microphone/speaker systems for swearing at other drivers! It is very loud, too! But.....you have to be careful and not get shot!
LOL”

You have to buy the matching trunk mounted kit that activates simultaneously with the horn, popping up loaded mini-gun from your trunk.
It does but you have to turn it off each time you start the car. The dealer told me there was an aftermarket override which I’m not interested in. ‘23 Accord
My first car, which I got in 1943, had a horn attached to the front of the door frame and you had to reach outside to squeeze the big rubber ball that blew the horn...
Worst invention ATM.... you have to practically disassemble the engine to replace the timing chain driven water pump on a 2014 Ford Explorer with a 3.5 Ecoboost Twin-Turbo powerplant.
Stupid engineers should be forced to work on their designs for at least 6 months.
Why it was designed this way
So the hands wouldn’t have to be taken off the wheel mainly for the women GM had one on the Olds maybe a another one.
I’m not sure what they would go to as a horn ring with the current airbag setup. Seems a little scary to me. You just know they will never give up on those airbags, even the Takata variety. Personally, I always liked those old horn rings. Sometimes the airbag/ horn button combo doesn’t work the best for blowing the horn on some models.
Exactly. I drive a 2014 Mustang and the horn disk in the center of the steering wheel also covers the airbag.
To blow the horn you have to push down on the outer edge and not in the center..............
If it can be shut off, why did they ever see fit to put it on the vehicle? Seems like a possibly expensive, very worthless device.
