I use Outlook on my computer for a 'side hustle' business, and do not want to intermingle my email accounts on one application - and "Mail" does everything I need for my Yahoo/Gmail/etc. accounts.
I've tried looking online for some, but can't really find anything that fits the job like the simple, basic "Mail".
So, reaching out to the technocrati here at FreeP to see what y'all use for e-mail on a Windows laptop?
Stop using windoze. Linux Mint (on laptop I’m using now) is great.
Took this old laptop that was unable to run win10, loaded Linux Mint on it and now it works like a brand new laptop.
I use yahoo e-mail. Screw microsoft, gates and windoze.
Did you know, 2min of each hour of windoze use, it’s reporting back to ms?
Just searched for replacement for windows mail and got this and I’ve never heard any of them LOL https://www.xda-developers.com/these-are-the-best-mail-app-alternatives-for-your-windows-pc/
Thunderbird.
I don’t even use a Microsoft account just the local account but you have to turn off your internet to create a local account and that can sometimes be a pain ,LOL
“Took this old laptop that was unable to run win10, loaded Linux Mint on it and now it works like a brand new laptop.”
Yep, did that over 8 years ago and haven’t looked back since. :)
If all you want to do is keep your email accounts separated, you could just set up another Outlook profile. When Outlook opens, it will give you the choice of profile to start - there’s no co-mingling of emails, as you’ll have separate .pst files.
“2min of each hour of windoze use, it’s reporting back to ms?”
That is what the “Windows was not shu down properly” message is all about. It didn’t get the chance to send in it’s use report logs and needs to phone home and catch up on those.
Thunderbird.
Side note, however. I use version 102 and I won't let TB update past that. My reasoning is simple, newer versions lost a lot of the appeal of the older versions, and the newer versions broke a lot of the add-ins that I use.
Just food for thought, but yes, Thunderbird is the best alternative out there unless someone knows of something better.
For a standalone, Thunderbird. As the old ads said:
“What’s the word? Thunderbird.
What’s the price? Mighty nice.”
Or get the Seamonkey suite - it has an email client built in.

The envelope icon at the bottom left launches the email client; it also has a non-Google based browswer, a basic HTML editor and some other features built in. If you want to avoid the Google/Microsoft to the extent possible on a Windows system, it’s the way to go.
Thunderbird has been reliable for me for 20 years
I only use the DVD version of Outlook. You can set up a mailbox per email address.
Samsung mail app. It’s simple.
ro_dreaming, ten18 as the solution so you don’t have to bother loading and learning new software. Besides, Outlook has the best overall set of features so you won’t have to change how you do things.
I was able to dump Microsoft Outlook by switching to a free web-based email client offered by the company that hosts my mail server.
If your email address is something like ro_dreaming@XYZ.com, see if XYZ.com offers a free web based email client.
In my case, the email web client is based on a free email interface called Zimbra. It was extremely easy to get up to speed on Zimbra because it looks very similar to Outlook. On the plus side, it is also a lot faster than Outlook because you don’t have to download/upload your messages to and from your Windows PC.
“The OP did not ask for advice on OSes. He is using Windows, likely needs to.”
Oh stop working for MS. There is nothing wrong with suggesting killing two birds with one stone. Most Linux distros come with T-bird already boxed by default. T-bird mail + no more MS headaches is logical and rational.
Did you miss it? Part of the problem the OP is presenting is the MS BS forcing him to search for alternatives in the first place. You can’t cheery pick and change the cause and effect. lol
Thank you for sharing the technical aspects about versions!
