Big Apple college campuses are woefully unprepared to respond to the fresh wave of “potentially dangerous” anti-Israel protests expected when students return to the classroom this fall, CUNY cops warned.
The CUNY officers, who blame a systematic dismantling of the public university system’s police forces for the lack of preparation, sounded the alarm after violent demonstrations erupted at campuses across the city in response to the Israel-Hamas war.
“The university is going into this under fire – they have no idea what’s going to happen. There’s no preparation,” a CUNY officer speaking on condition of anonymity told The Post.
CUNY schools were the scene of some of the ugliest campus violence in the five boroughs last spring — from the occupation of CUNY Graduate Center’s library to a series of violent riots at City College of New York (CCNY)’s Upper Manhattan campus that caused more than $3 million in damage.
Even with upcoming events like the anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre and the presidential elections promising “turmoil,” CUNY officers said school safety officials have done no preparation whatsoever.
“There have been no meetings about any of this. Ever since the encampment ended, everyone went on vacation. There’s no ‘Let’s prepare for September,'” he said, noting the schools will likely have a cursory meeting to “check the box” but won’t form any actual battle plan.
“It’s going to be bad. Our numbers just aren’t there. If there’s a spontaneous protest that we don’t have any knowledge of, we’re going to be outnumbered – just by the sheer number of students enrolled, we’re outnumbered,” another officer shared.
Students will head back to CUNY classrooms on August 28.
Meanwhile, the officers’ fingers point squarely at CUNY Executive Public Safety Director André Brown, who took office in 2020.

I wonder what the source of the Israel hate is amongst these college kids?
Amazing how one sniper can paralyze a battalion...
But apparently no one is sniping admissions...
The inability to deal with the “onslaught” wreaks of BS
1) Schools have a code of conduct. Expel violators.
2) Demand that law enforcement arrest trespassers.
3) Sue those who damage property.
Up hold the laws and arrest these terrorists. The solution is simple.
Sounds like a good time to bring back distance learning.
Sounds like additional public funding is the answer.
all the preparation they need could be contained on a poster-board size notice:
“This campus has adopted a zero-tolerance policy regarding on-campus protests. Any student choosing to engage in on-campus protests or in restricting any student from entering any educational building, including libraries, lecture halls, sports facilities and cafeterias, will be immediately expelled and tuition forfeited.”
However "bad" it is - it won't be bad enough.
If those *protesters*, (anarchists) had been dealt with immediately and strongly, arrested and jailed until a court date, they wouldn’t be facing this.
Weak responses invite more of the same.
A good, common sense solution.
A virtual guarantee it won’t happen.
And why is that? Why is it “going to be bad”? 20 years ago we didn’t have this crap- so what has changed? Oh yeah, our cou try was flooded with antisemitic terrorists, who are coddled by the law, given $$ for “free”, housing, schooling etc.
That is excellent.
Then they need to enforce it with zero exceptions—even if daddy just bought a new building for the college or daddy is the U.S. Congressman for the district.
Blocking entrances to buildings may be non-violent, but it ain't peaceful. That should not be allowed.
Obviously any form of violence should not be allowed.
you believe that the CUNY admin is going to do such a poster???
well, since the feds found antisemitism complaints were justified and federal oversight has been mandated, opening the door to successful outcomes for the current big money civil lawsuits already filed by Jewish students, CUNY will have to do something along that line for all their campuses:
““The CUNY agreement is a step in the right direction as it recognizes that CUNY failed to adequately address the problem and sets up federal monitoring and oversight,”
