THIS is the moment Vladimir Putin's $40 million nuclear-capable Tu-22 bomber jet crashed in Siberia today in a humiliating blow to the despot.
The valuable Russian aircraft came down in a fiery blaze after takeoff, marking another embarrassment for Vlad as Ukraine continues its successful invasion of Russia.
Witnesses said the Tu-22M3 nuclear bomber - planes used by Putin as a key part of his nuclear arsenal - broke apart in the sky before crashing amid fierce explosions.
Dramatic footage showed the moment an enormous fireball filled the sky as the aircraft came down.
The crew of four ejected safely before the high-tech plane hit the ground and exploded in Irkutsk, Siberia, according to reports.
The plane crashed near the Cheryomkhovsky district of the Irkutsk region, some 3,300 miles east of Moscow.
No clear explanation was given for the fiery crash, but Russian state media kept to the line of a "technical malfunction".
A smarting Putin, struggling to fend off a Ukrainian border incursion in Kursk, this week deployed two Tu-22 planes to threaten the West in a nuclear drill over the Baltic Sea.

“Safety margin” doesn’t translate into Russian. Both their engineering and maintenance have been noticeably lax in regards to crew comfort and survivability.

Yeah, probably not - just insane, country-invading, nuclear-war-threatening, war criminal thugs.
Better, right?
Your comment does not make sense to me. Please explain
A Russian nuclear bomber crashes in Siberia? How does this move us closer to nuclear war?
“No clear explanation was given for the fiery crash, but Russian state media kept to the line of a “technical malfunction”.
I’m surprised we didn’t hear about a super secret Ukrainian SAM site on the Kamchatka peninsula.
No, not better. Just more accurate.
If it got shot down over Russian airspace, then that would be embarrassing. So far though, it’s just an operational accident.
Pro Putin trolls love to stoke fear, loathing, and disinformation. But even more than that, they love calling for nuclear war.
“ The Soviet Union doesn’t exist anymore, commies don’t run Russia.”
They haven’t really changed .
Thuggish dictator and oligarchs .
You get shot if you disagree with them.
The New York Times writes that victory for Putin is now "definitely within reach."
"His [Putin's] latest peace proposal, under which Russia retains the occupied territories and Ukraine is banned from joining NATO, has been rejected by many Western leaders. However, in fact, this is the most realistic scenario for how this war will end," the newspaper writes.
That’s not to mention the grudgingly rosy picture it paints of Russia’s economic outlook:
Nor has the West managed to cut off the sources of Russia’s economic might, despite rounds of sanctions. The economy is growing healthily, and the assets of Russian oligarchs remain safe in the West, even if frozen. Most important, Russian oil is being bought and sold with minimal difficulty around the world as Western leaders can’t seem to decide what they want more: to meaningfully punish Russia or keep things as they are. Tellingly, the U.S. Treasury’s proposal to impose penalties on tankers that help Russian oil evade sanctions has stalled over the White House’s fear that higher gasoline prices won’t play well at the polls in November.

Methinks the zeepers failed to detect sarcasm font. 😏
This is some British tabloid spouting British government propaganda. Don’t US fighters and bombers crash occasionally? What is the big deal? Probably an accident, but could be hostile action or sabotage.
The NATO codename for it is the ‘Backfire’.

LOL
send some more of those kinda planes pooty poot
No, it is really commies again. That is why Russia is rehabilitating Stalin, bringing back the hammer and sickle flag, doing away with their (sort of graduated) “flat tax”, keeping huge state-owned corporations, bad mouthing Solzhenitsyn, controlling all information flow, and handing out long prison terms to those who dare practice free speech.
Also note that Russia’s allies are North Korea, Hamas, and Iran and sometimes China.
