Tulsi Gabbard, a former House member who ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat and then left the party, on Wednesday embraced the idea of joining Donald J. Trump as his running mate on the Republican ticket.
“If asked to serve in that way, I would be honored to do so,” Ms. Gabbard said in response to a question from the audience during a speech at the Richard M. Nixon Library and Museum in California. She was promoting her book about her estrangement from the political left...

Did you make up that title? I’m not sure that’s best practice at FR.
bth showers bring thg flowers I suppose....
No.
Though I do admit to adding a tiny bit in the parenthese. If that is spelled correctly…
🙃

Stop with the utter nonsense.
You are causing trouble.
Not my hope.
Perhaps I just see we are not yet locked into our current decisioning, and might still have a choice.
Not sure. Just debating things.
Yeah that’s what the profile page says. How many “southern border” illegals have upset the demographics of Vietnam? To me that’s like the libs who’ve emigrated to Hawaii from the mainland. The ones with the money to do it. No border problems there that I can see, that they have to deal with.
Stop it. JD Vance is great. Support Trump/Vance
No. Keep Vance. Get rid of Vance and you lose a lot of support and effective communication.
The OP has mangled the date of the NYT article that shows on the FR posting. Look at it. Not sure if that was deliberate or not. Mods should can this posting. And unless you have a subscription to the NYT you won’t be able to open the article to see the original date anyway. I was deceived into thinking it was a current article.
Well, soon the Dems will have their convention.
Then we can race for real.
I am just not personally convinced we currently have nearly as strong a ticket as we used to.
You of course can strongly disagree.
In about two weeks the sides will be settled. Then I will be quiet, because frankly I will be slightly less excited with our ticket.
Sorry, but that is true.
But at that time things will be set.
Gabbard is a greenie and a gun grabber. No thanks.
Yes! There’s a group of us right-wingers that think she would move numbers in favor of Trump. We always seem to be that group that comes to a decision about things late. Democrats changed out candidates three months before the election specifically because she’d coast along. Everybody on our side needs to recognize that what we need right now is somebody to pull in voters we don’t normally get.
She would help considerably with women. She’d be a friendly face for minorities & the young would love the addition of a female. Our biggest drawback has been our limitation to appealing to white guys. I knew five years ago Tulsi was on a conservative path. She would be amazing- if only our grumpiest guys could try changing things up so we truly win. We’ve been following MAGAs advice on elections since President Trump won in 2016 & have not won an election since. I don’t care how much I get flamed for it- he is now behind in the polls nationally & most swing states, He’s in a dead heat in NC, GA & AZ. He’s only ahead mid single digits in FL & TX.
I truly believe this could be the last election. We have to win this. Whether we want to admit it or not- we need to do something different this year. If we lose this election because all of the cautious men in the party tell us to stick to what we know- I’m not going to be able to forgive many & will just not bother showing up for election. I know most Republicans are middle aged, white men & most of the time (for any community) it’s normal to stick to what you know. We can’t continue to be a party that only appears to white male as you are only 30% of the population. The one thing I hear over & over again from moderate Independents is they would likely vote for Trump- but they wanted to see somebody totally different on the ticker with him. None of us them are advocating DEI or affirmative action. They’d have to be qualified & conservative first & foremost, but picking somebody to balance the ticket is not something just now coming about due to political correctness, we have always done it, from the beginning of the republic. That’s why there always a discussion about where a vp candidate comes from & if it might help to pick from an important state or help give the ticket more appeal in a region where polls are showing a lack of enthusiasm.
I sometimes feel like everybody here thinks that they came to FR or conservatism & MAGA due to principles alone; but the truth is MAGA became relevant bc Trump appealed to working class folks that weren’t a traditional Republican constituency. On some level- it was an appeal to peoples identity as a besieged group under attack from elites by way of mass immigration, offshoring & terrible trade deals Killing American workers. We cannot win with 30% of the population alone. Please open your eyes & hearts to some small degree of change so that we can win a crucial election & change course. None of us knows everything & we should all have imput. Principles are incredibly important, but so is triumphing & preventing wackos from ruining our nation. If a Tulsi Gabbard or Byron Daniel’s helps with that then I’d be happy to have them as VP 😉
So you’d rather have President Tulsi Gabbard than President J. D. Vance, in the event that they succeed in assassinating Trump next year. Nice to know.

Yes, but apparently you missed this line: "If you can’t offer positive support for Trump, then sit back, shut up"
And I'm also basing my comment off of his past comments that were the same in tone from today's comment - aggressive, belligerent, insulting and knee-jerk keyboard warrior dumb.
Cba123, you’ve “gone native.”
Good post.
