DALLAS - State lawmakers are putting pressure on State Fair of Texas officials to reverse a gun ban.
Fair officials announced last week that guns will not be allowed inside the fairgrounds.
Last year, a gunman shot and injured three people inside the fair’s food court.
The State Fair of Texas still hasn’t revealed how he got the gun through security, but he did not have a license to carry it.
The fair used to allow licensed gun owners to carry their weapons concealed.
That changes with the new policy.
Only active and retired peace officers will be authorized to carry within the fairgrounds. Dallas police officers will verify their credentials at the entrances.

No problems at the Fair. Just be sure you're out of the area before sundown.
Why are they allowed to exclude firearms? Abbott and Paxton should address this. Maybe cut funding and support, end them being the “state fair”.
I saw this BS in CA when I lived there too. Retired officers given privileges that citizens dont have, like open or concealed carry where citizens could get a CC permit and open carry was illegal.
Enough already. If a cop retires, hes a private citizen, just like the rest of us. Maybe if law enforcement knew that, then getting laws passed to protect citizens 2nd ammendment right wouldnt be so hard.
After 2 visits to a post-season Cotton Bowl game there, I decided to steer clear of that place. The first time I went, my alma mater was playing Ole Miss whose fans were driving thru the ghetto neighborhood around the Fairgrounds playing “Dixie” on their custom car horns. Feel very blessed not to have been in the middle of a full blown riot.
Do description of the perps??? Hmmm. Because I saw the video and I can describe them.
Better punish everyone.
Don’t urge them you are the legislator put a law on Gov Abbots desk that state’s only the state legislature can define where firearms may or may not be carried using the state supremacy clause to override any city or county level jackwagons.
