Speaking of conservative NeverTrumpers
American Thinker ^ | 13 Aug, 2024 | Ron Ross

You no doubt have conservative friends who strongly dislike Donald Trump. They can’t tolerate his take-no-prisoners rhetoric. His personality rubs them the wrong way -- he’s abrasive, crude, and in their opinion, obnoxious.

Their attitude reveals a form of narrow-mindedness known as tunnel vision. These conservative NeverTrumpers, when asked, typically admit that they like his policies -- securing the border, smaller government, lower taxes, and deregulation, to name a few. They say they could never vote for him, though. They apparently want a perfect candidate, but no such animal exists and they know it. They seem stuck on making the perfect the enemy of the good.

Their "...tunnel vision is over-reliance on internal information..." such as bias. They refuse to grasp that Trump’s personality might only be one percent as important as his accomplishments while in office or what he could do in a second term.

These conservative NeverTrumpers show zero gratitude for what Trump has done for them. It’s no exaggeration to say that no other Republican could have beaten Hillary Clinton in 2016. She would have been president for four or eight years. Can they even imagine what living through that would have been like?

During his first term, President Trump was able to get three conservative judges appointed to the U. S. Supreme Court. In the years since then most of the court’s rulings have been applauded by all conservatives.

Common sense should teach us that every human being is a package deal. The conservative NeverTrumpers often say something like, “I just wish he weren’t so braggadocious!”

They also seem to be prissy country club types who insist on the Marquis de Queensbury rules even as the Left has no rules at all.....they’re often the type who would rather lose “nobly” (”ewwww we can’t win the way Lee Atwater won, better to lose”) than win. In short, many of them are ultimately self defeating cucks. I only wish the Left were afflicted with these attitudes.

IMHO many of the conservative never Trumpers don’t have a problem with Trump’s speaking style. They’re afraid to be known as supporting someone that the “enlightenment” clique has said repeatedly that only the “uneducated” support.

“he’s abrasive, crude, and in their opinion, obnoxious.”

I agree with them 100%. Hence my tagline...

I’ll repeat myself…

There is a basic reality in terms of the Presidential candidacy.

Over the years, The Presidency went from a job where the nation wanted a guy who had ideas and leadership qualities, to sort of like the slot for lead singer in Van Halen.

You can have a killer frontman like David Lee Roth, who excites and slays live and propels the band creatively, but who is a trainwreck in terms of everything else.

You can get Sammy Hagar, who is ultra competent but not terribly motivating and not your primary pick for frontman.

Then there is Gary Cherone, who is great in Extreme but lost in VH and, today, nobody can name ONE thing Cherone did in VH.

Trump is Diamond Dave.

DeSantis was Sammy; he sort of flopped once he moved out of 2,000-seat venues to Madison Square Garden.

Harris is Cherone - and even that’s a stretch since Cherone is great in Extreme. But in Van Halen, he’s basically forgotten as are the songs from that VH III album.

In 2024, America isn’t voting for competency. We are voting for the Frontman of America. And maybe that’s ok - maybe we NEED a Frontman more than a vocalist right now.

In this contest, the nation and populism want Diamond Dave. And Dave is unifying people like nobody-look at the rappers with Trump in The Bronx. It’s stunning.

But we need to be honest with ourselves. Trump is a train wreck in terms of personnel choices, and he can get carried away with social media. That is the cost of solid SCOTUS picks and abortion overturned, a cranking economy, and no wars.

Trump will win the Diamond Dave vote, which will be drawn to a guy who took a bullet and unifies people. Harris will get the increasingly shrinking Gary Cherone vote (and again, Cherone is awesome with Extreme; Harris was never awesome, but work with me).

Ultimately, regardless of who gets into the WH, never forget….the American People are Eddie, Michael, and Alex-a monster band that is invariant to the guy in the singer slot. WE run the nation.

I wrote this on a thread a few minutes ago where someone was criticizing Trump saying he risks offending “undecided voters”...

************************************************

Your precious “undecided voters” are the biggest idiots in the history of this country. I have more respect for Leftists than I do for “undecided voters”, and my respect for Leftists is lower than whale crap.

These “undecided voters” cannot decide between what their own eyes tell them when they walk the streets and buy groceries and what the Media tells them to think.

These people would be just fine with any tyrannical action by some politician as long as it didn’t make them feel personally uncomfortable.

They are the stupidest, most intellectually vacuous “voters” who exist. Screw them, and screw pandering to them.

Win without them.

And do it by attacking on all fronts. I am sick and tired of people pandering to those “undecided voter” douchebags by saying “Oh, we don’t want to offend them, hurt their feelings or whatever”.

These dumb asses can barely get off their fat asses to vote. Eff them. Some percentage of them will vote for Trump and some won’t. Live with that number.

Most of this reality is populism.

A politician is a figure worthy of disgust, not admiration.

The educated carefully forget their degrees are not in physics or engineering. But this did not prevent them from declaring themselves experts in areas that are mostly physics or engineering but perhaps have some aspect of politics involved. The whole world of defense expertise is just loaded with people who cannot compute how long it takes a bomb to drop from some altitude to the ground.

The list of issues mentioned in the article are not conservative. Conservatism is draining the swamp, building the wall, and America first and all things. They don’t embrace that and therefore they are not conservative, and when they stand up and scream that Trump is not the arbiter of what is conservatism, the correct reply is neither are they.

Only train wreck I can think of who accomplished so much in real measurable terms for himself, for the Nation and for the world. Only train wreck I know who has given so generously of time, money and opportunities to people in need or in trouble throughout his life. Those were Trump’s personal choices to put himself on the front line and take all incoming to protect, defend and save the America he loves.
Maybe you are focusing on inconsequential aspects you find important or maybe you need a new definition - train wreck = outstanding.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Trump - and I think he is an awesome American - and allows two communists to take office is beyond an idiot. Trump has been the only person to rip the top of the rotten log in DC to expose the beetles, worms, snakes and larvae of the bureaucratic state.
Until now these nameless, faceless bureaucrats, since at least the time of that perverted little worm J. E. Hoover., have grabbed more and more power.

Am visiting PA now. Billboards around
Harrisburg show a voter who says “I used to vote for Trump. I’m voting for Harris.”
Going after these folks.

Just off I 376 near Carnegie, one says
Trump 2024 and shows the picture of him
getting up and raising his fist in Butler
after assassination attempt.
Walz was chosen for Kam’s running mate
instead of Shapiro. Minn. thought of
as maybe a blue state while PA is an
important swing state; wouldn’t they
have tried to put Shapiro on ticket
to try to win it?

Shapiro is Jewish and the pro Palestinians
would have been outraged.

PA is the state that put Trump over the
top in ‘16.

These people aren't conservatives. They aren't people with any sense of principles. They aren't even serious adults.

There's a name for people who place their personal likes and dislikes over principles: children.

Trump isn’t a saint but compared to Bill Clinton and Joe Biden he’s a Boy Scout. The Left would destroy a lesser candidate. Trump has withstood everything the Dems have thrown at him and come out stronger. The Dems are beside themselves, actually apoplectic! A panicked party is capable of anything.

Conservative Never-Trumpers are a case study for cognitive dissonance.
