Authorities abruptly shut down the Dominican Day Parade in Manhattan on Sunday when a massive, unruly crowd swarmed the Midtown route and a teen slashed a 65-year-old man across the face, law-enforcement sources said.
The 42-year-old parade — which draws a half-million spectators and features 113 organizations, including community groups, carnival bands and government officials — was supposed to continue along Sixth Avenue until West 59th Street, the entrance to Central Park.

Let me guess: more children of Obeyme.
All it takes is one idiot, causing problems and cutting faces, to ruin a popular parade.
There’s a Dominican Day?
Puerto Rican Day, Haiti Day, Cuba Day?
which draws a half-million spectators
Yeah, everyone’s got a day.
Looks vibrant, not like my boring white neighborhood.
Except European Day
What was it Obeyme said about his boys (none other mentioned) did?
Mis??
LOL!
When is the old fat white mans day?
¿Alguna desnudez Dominicana? (Las mujeres solo por favor)
Why do we do Dominican Day in America? Isn’t that kind of retarded?
When are we going to get our Caucasians Day?
Ha.
Like children asking after Mother’s Day and Father’s Day:
“When is kids’ day?”
Parents: “Every day is kids’ day.”
This is really a shame. The Dominican parade was always the most enthusiastic parade of all, with the parade watchers clapping and cheering wildly at everything that went by.
Too bad it got out of control by people who didn’t understand its importance.
They got their own congressman a few years ago, which gave them some overdue representation.
Puerto Rican Day, Haiti Day, Cuba Day?
There's also an Israel Day parade.
And an African American Day parade.
And plenty of Pride parades. (At least it seems there's more than one.)
No Italy Day or Irish Day, because they have Columbus Day and St. Patrick's Day instead.
Here and gone, my friend. Here and gone.
But not forever. As G. Michael Hopf once wrote:
Hard times create strong men.
Strong men create good times.
Good times create weak men.
And, weak men create hard times.
And so it turns. We are in the Weak men create Hard Times part of that cycle. But the cycle will repeat.
Was it in the malt shop?
