Putin would if he could, but Russia lacks the military power and operational ability to do so.

Kinda wrought up about US support for Ukraine? Why? I do not mean why it is wrong in your view for the US to support Ukraine, but how did you come to that view and why does the issue matter to you?

This is a sincere inquiry and is not meant as an insult or trick question. Think of it as if I am asking why you love, or hate, or do not care about golf.

Like I said, with half a million young Ukrainians already dead, you are willing to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian life.

When do you expect to get there?

No, I don’t have anything reversed.

Cheering on occasional Ukrainian victories over the Russians is exactly what the globalist warmongers want in order to keep this tragic war going - a war that will ultimately wipe out the Ukrainians, while leaving the Russians relatively unfazed and the warmongers even richer than they already are.

If there had ever been a chance of Ukraine prevailing it would be a completely different story - but there wasn’t. US deep state support for this war has always been about the MIC making money.

Look it up.

There is a LOT more, going back to the initial days of the MLRS system. Background research helps.

Do you mean 40m Ukrainians, or just the Ukrainians in uniform - about 1m men?
Note that after WW2, Ukraine lost ~250K people over 7 years while using rifles and grenades against a Russia armed with every weapon in its WW2 inventory. The odds of 40m Ukrainian dead are not high.

They are extremely effective, for a range of uses.

SAM suppression
Anti-radar and other SEAD jobs
Airfield attack
Counterbattery against towed artillery
Infantry in the open or in hasty entrenchments without overhead cover
Interdiction (as in this case)

They are not too useful vs targets in built up areas, armored vehicles, well-entrenched units with overhead cover, etc.

They are so useful that they were initially the sole munition of the MLRS (M270), the US Army/Marine standard artillery rocket system. HIMARS is just a lighter, more mobile version of MLRS.

I don’t think the longer range GPS guided missiles (GMLRS) have cluster warheads, just the old unguided types. If someone isn’t doing this they should.

There are GPS guided ATACMS with cluster warheads IIRC.

The Guards label used to mean something. It was a reference to the Praetorian Guard, the elite of the elite, a ruler's personal pocket army, in case his generals or vassals revolted. At Waterloo, a French general, when called upon to give up, said "The Guard dies but does not surrender!" This Russian Guards unit, reportedly the remnants of a battalion, has decided discretion is the better part of valor.

The cluster munition warheads may be timed out, but the missile systems they are mounting them on are not timed out and GTG.

We have bombs made decades ago but does not mean that the F35 they mount them on are ready for the scrap yard

“...send soldiers fleeing for their lives”

Well, if you’re gonna flee, your life is a damn good reason.

The missile bodies (called the M26) are overtime too.

Thats why they started modding them by replacing the cluster warheads with SDB’s (the Air Force Small Diameter Bomb, which is a GPS guided glide munition), to make GLSDBs. On the face of it a quick and cheap way to re-use the abundant M26’s and the also abundant SDBs.

As it turns out the SDBs GPS implememtation is too easy to jam, so that project is on hold.

Lots of background info on the M26 (rocket body used in MLRS/HIMARS projectiles).

Obviously, I’m not talking about their entire population - it’s the fighting age male population that is being wiped out.

To add insult to injury, I wonder how much the CIA is paying this clown to spam our forum.

Because I know a little bit about the history of Ukraine and Russia over the last 20 yrs as well as the enormous amount of meddling our State Dept. has been engaged in over there since 2004.

When this whole thing started, I tried to understand the reasons behind it. My research led me to learn about the plight of the ppl in the Donbas and the atrocities committed by the Azov Brigade against their fellow Ukrainians who unfortunately were culturally Russian-Ukrainian and wished to continue their Russian traditions and language. However, Kiev refused to allow it. Over 14,000 ppl died as a result of the conflict in the Donbas, mostly civilians, between 2014-2022 and the western media never really covered it.

The ppl in the Donbas had a referendum for autonomy in 2014 which Kiev agreed to abide by, but they didn’t so the fighting escalated after that. The Russian-Ukrainians asked Russia for help and they supplied food, medicine and probably artillery covertly for a few yrs. However, when the talk of NATO expansion, another broken promise by the West, began in earnest, they finally decided to step in to help the ppl in the Donbas AND to push back on Western aggression via NATO.

That’s pry more than you wanted to hear about my reasons, and I know the war hawks on this thread will try to call into question everything I wrote in their quest to keep the plates spinning in Ukraine. I wish they could have worked out a negotiation to end this war in April 2022 but our State Department put an end to that, which is another thing that made me go “hmmm.” Why wouldn’t they want peace…other than there are huge sums of money being made by multiple entities and they won’t allow the spigot to be turned off yet. It certainly has nothing to do with the Ukrainian or Russian ppl.

I’m also suspicious when I see the public being manipulated into the cult by slogans, flags, and sob stories about “the poor Ukrainian ppl” on 60 Minutes. I usually take the opposite side when I feel like I’m being handled by the media. It’s not my first rodeo.
