I suppose it limits your choices in non-open primaries. Maybe it “empowers” that party with voter rolls. These are speculations in answer to your question.
It is not a bad thing, at all, to have people who remain where they are, also. The people fighting Maduro in Venezuela, for instance.

Again this is impossible. If you vote Democrat locally then you are supporting the destruction of the Republic from the bottom up. It all starts at the roots. Your local Judges, DAs, Mayors, City Counsel, School Supervisor and board, Etc.
If you vote democrat for these positions locally you are helping to destroy our republic and rep[lace it with communism. The repair all starts at the grassroots.
There is the WWIII gambit:
(1) promise Russia that NATO's military alliance has no intention of expanding toward its borders,
(2) spend the next three decades expanding NATO's military alliance right up to Russia's borders,
(3) blame any Russian response on its secret desire to conquer Europe,
(4) provide the European Commission with an excuse to erase national borders and build a pan-European military, and
(5) give Western nations an opportunity to send able-bodied young men off to battle before they can turn their attention to matters closer to home.

Lots of decent, affable, lovable, likeable, hard working, wholesome, honorable, fun loving, patriotic, normal people WERE democrats. Ronald Reagan comes to mind. Staying a “democrat” in these changing times is like an elderly person stubbornly staying put in a slowly rotting neighborhood. Even I, bonemaker, have voted democrat on ocassion for specific unique reasons but NEVER for president!
