Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that a Ukrainian incursion into Russia's Kursk region was a major provocation.
"The Kyiv regime has launched another major provocation," Putin told members of the Russian government about the Kursk attack.

An assault on an unprotected and unprotectable flank is not a provocation. A successful assault on an unprotected flank is gross incompetence on the part of Russian generals.
The world knows and is laughing at the ineptness of Russian weapons and air defense systems. Now the world smirks at the failure of the Russian generals to once again protect their flanks.

Putin’s Chechen blocking troops fled their border assignments as soon as Ukraine started their artillery barrage leaving inexperienced young conscripts from Moscow and St Petersburg on their own to try to defend the Ukrainian advance.
