"That time....when Elon Musk turned the tables and completely owned a BBC activist reporter – “You just lied!” (w/TRANSCRIPT, my comments)
X.com ^ | Jul 27, 2024 | Elon Musk, BBC reporter, via ALEX @ajtourville

Posted on 08/06/2024 2:26:32 PM PDT by ransomnote

Below, in order of presentation, are my comments, the link and X.com post of the 5 minute video, and TRANSCRIPT.

I saw this 5 minute video of a longer interview, between a BBC reporter and Elon Musk, some time ago and it has stayed on my mind. I couldn't recall who the interviewer worked for and my mind supplied the nick name 'Rat Boi' for him based on the reporter's behavior. He's a BBC reporter asserting that hate speech is on the rise since Musk took over, yet was unprepared and unable to supply any proof, but instead supplied child-like evasions.

I really enjoyed watching the video again, and was laughing at some parts as I halted the video in some parts to transcrib it. Members of the media portray themselves as superior, above-it-all oracles and then fold like lawn chairs when questioned about their sources.

I recommend the video, but have provided the transcript below for those who prefer to skim it. I personally thought the reporter began to stammer when caught lying, and started putting the stammering in the punctuation, but if I thought it was just normal human error, I would  have left it out. I apologize for the bias, but at least I don't charge for my transcription services.

TRANSCRIPT BEGINS~~~~

BBC Reporter: Do you think you prioritize freedom of speech over misinformation and hate speech?

Elon Musk: Well, you know, who's to say that something is misinformation? Who is the artiber of that? Is it the BBC?

BBC Reporter: You literally asking me?

Elon Musk:Yes. Who is the arbiter?

BBC Reporter: Well no. You are the artibeter on Twitter because you own Twitter.

Elon Musk: Yes. I'm saying, 'who is to say that one person's misinformation is another person's information?' The point of which you said there is, this is misinformation. Like, who is going to decide that?

BBC Reporter: (starts to talk over) Will you accept that misinformation can be dangerous. That it can cause real world harms...

Elon Musk: Yes.

BBC Reporter: ...that it can potentially cause

Elon Musk: Yes. The point from it is the BBC itself has at times published things that are false. Do you agree that has occured?

BBC Reporter: I-I-I-I am quite sure the BBC have said things before that turn out to not be true....

Elon Musk: Right.

BBC Reporter: ...in its, whatever its hundred year history, I'm quite sure....

Elon Musk: Yes. Even if you aspire to be accurate there are times when you will, you will not be.

BBC Reporter: We've spoken to people very recently who were invovled in moderation, and they just say they just, there's not enough people to police this stuff, particularly around, um, particularly around hate speech, um, in the company. Do you...is that something you want to address?

Elon Musk: Well what hate speech are you talking about? I mean, you use Twitter?

BBC Reporter: Right.

Elon Musk: Do you see a rise in hate speech?

BBC Reporter: I mean I...

Elon Musk: Just your personal anedote. Like, what do you...I don't...

BBC Reporter: P-P-Personally, my uh 'For You' I would see, I get more of that kind of content. Yeah, personally. But I-I'm not going to talk to the rest of, for the rest of Twitter.

Elon Musk: You see more hate speech, personally?

BBC Reporter: I would say I would see more hateful content in that, in that...

Elon Musk: Content you don't like or hateful? What do you mean? Describe a hateful thing.

BBC Reporter: Yeah. I mean, you know, this content that will solicity a reaction, something that may include something that is slightly racists or slightly sexist, those kinds of things.

Elon Musk: So you think if something is slightly sexist it should be banned?

BBC Reporter: I...n-no, I...

Elon Musk: Is that what you're saying?

BBC Reporter: I'm not saying anything. I'm saying...

Elon Musk: I'm just curious.I'm trying to understand what you mean by hateful content, and I'm asking for specific examples, um, and if, and you just said that if something is slightly sexist, that's hateful content. Does that mean that it should be banned?

BBC Reporter: Well you've asked me, you've asked me whether my feed, whether it's got less or more. It, I'd say it's got slightly more.

Elon Musk: That's why I'm asking for examples. Can you, can you name one example?

BBC Reporter: I'd I'd honestly don't ne... a chi...I-I h-honestly don't need ....

Elon Musk: You can't name a single example?

BBC Reporter: I'll tell you why. 'Cause I don't actually use that 'For You' feed anymore, because I, I just don't particularly like it.

Elon Musk: But you said you....

BBC Reporter: Actually a lot of people, a lot of people are quite similar. I-I-I only look at my...'Following'. My 'Following'.

Elon Musk: Well hang on a second, you said you've seen more hateful content, but you can't name a single example, not even one.

BBC Reporter: I'm not sure I've used that feed for the last three or four weeks, and I, well...

Elon Musk: Well then how did you see the hateful conten...content?

BBC Reporter: Because I've been, I've been using it, I've been using it, I've been using Twitter since you've taken over for the last six months.

Elon Musk: Okay so then you must have at some point seen that 'For You'  hateful content. I'm asking for one example.

BBC Reporter: Right...and I-I

Elon Musk: And you can't give a single one...

BBC Reporter: And-and-and I'm saying, I'm

Elon Musk (@3:02): Then I say, Sir, that you don't know what you're talking about.

BBC Reporter: Really?

Elon Musk: Yes, because you can't name a single example of hateful conte, content, not even one Tweet, and yet you claimed that the hateful content was high.

BBC Reporter: Well...

Elon Musk: That's a 'false'.

BBC Reporter:  No, what I could

Elon Musk (@3:15): You just lied.

BBC Reporter: Wh...No...No. What I claimed was, uh, there are many organizations that say that that kind of information is on the rise. Now, whether, whether it has on my feed or not...

Elon Musk: Give me one example.

BBC Reporter:  I mean, I, right and if we can...

Elon Musk: You literally can't name one.

BBC Reporter:  Someone like the Str-Strateic Dialogue Institute here in the UK, they will say that. So, y-you...

Elon Musk: Look, people will say all sorts of nonsense....

BBC Reporter: Right.

Elon Musk: ....I'm literally asking for a single example, and you can't name one.

BBC Reporter: Right, and as I already said I don't use that feed, but let's...

Elon Musk:  How then did you know that....

BBC Reporter: I don't think this is getting us anywhere....

Elon Musk: You literally said you experienced more hateful content, and then couldn't name a single example.

BBC Reporter: Right, and as I said....

Elon Musk: That's absurd.

BBC Reporter: ...I haven't, I haven't actually looked at that feed, I would say for...

Elon Musk: Then how would you know if it's hateful content?

BBC Reporter: Because I'm saying that's what I saw a few weeks ago. I can't give you an exact example. Let's move on. We only have a certain amount of time. Um...

Elon Musk: Well...

BBC Reporter: Covid misinformation. You....

Elon Musk: ....amazing....

BBC Reporter: You've changed the Covid Misinformation rules...

Elon Musk: Has BBC changed its Covid misinformation?

BBC Reporter: The BBC does not set the rules on Twitter, so I'm asking you.

Elon Musk: No, I'm talking about the BBC's misinformation about Covid.

BBC Reporter: *pauses 5 seconds* I'm I'm I'm basically asking ....

Elon Musk: Has it?

BBC Reporter: ....you about, you changed the labels, the Covid Misinformation labels. They used to be a policy, then th-then they disappeared. Wh-why do that?

Elon Musk: Well, it.. Covid is no longer an issue. Does the BBC, h-hold itself at all responsible for misinformation r-regarding m-masking and side effects of vaccinations?

BBC Reporter: *pausing*

Elon Musk: ...and not reporting on that at all?

BBC Reporter: *pausing*

Elon Musk: And what about the fact that the BBC was put under pressure by the British government to change the editorial policy. Are you aware of that?

BBC Reporter: This is an, this is not an interview about the BBC.

Elon Musk: Oh, you thought it wasn't?

BBC Reporter: *laughter* And this...I see now why you've done Twitter Spaces....

Elon Musk: *nods acknowledgement*

BBC Reporter: I'm not a representative of the BBC's editorial policy; I want to make that clear. Let's talk about something else. You want to talk about the BBC...

Elon Musk: I'm interviewing you, too.

BBC Reporter: Alright, let's lets talk about, lets talk about...

The left cannot defend its positions in an actual debate.

They depend on their ability to control the information flow.

I suspect Asperger’s people are responsible for the vast majority of scientific and technological progress over the last 500 years.

“Elon Musk: I’m interviewing you, too.”

That’s what every conservative should do when they sit down for an interview with a hostile propagandist. Don’t treat them like unbiased reporters but as an enemies to be grilled back and to show their biases.

Thanks, ransomnote. I remember seeing this before, but it’s great to see it AGAIN!

The BBC, the Economist, the Financial Times. These are all broken, Leftist BS media.

Maybe there should be a new Olympic category for journalists to see which news media can feed the public the most cow manure. I bet the old Gray Lady will win the gold medal of Fake News. Go New York Slimes!
