An independent variable does not depend on other variables.
Man is not an independent variable. Man’s actions are dependent on environmental parameters. Even the very existence of man has been dependent. Evolution is the prime example.
“So INFORM me on variables”
Consider a simple hypothetic global warming model including the earth, sun and man.
The sun could be considered an independent variable since its out put in not affected by either man or the earth in a simple model.
On the other had if the sun’s output increases earth’s temperature increases.
If the sun’s output increases man’s behavior will change. Man will spend more time indoors with air conditioning using more energy. This leads to more couch potatoes and less innovation.
As earth’s temperature increases it leads to global warming conspiracies, election of radicals and gas stove restrictions. Fewer gas stoves results in less attractive dinner preparations and couch potatoes eating more fast food resulting in increased obesity requiring stronger couches. Stronger couches are more expensive leaving less money to buy fast food. So couch potatoes forfeit the couch for the floor. Due to being immobile, jobs are lost, progress comes to a halt and the children are forced to hit the streets begging.
