We've long suspect that the tide was beginning to turn, that studios would get tired of losing billions of dollars in box office revenue and would start to take action. And last week on Open Bar, it was confirmed to us.
Love the Drinker.
I watch Drinker’s episodes. Very funny, uses age-old story telling techniques to explain why modern movies are awful. Don’t agree with this assessment, though. Not questioning his sources, but there’s too many “blue haired, all my kids are “trans” [at 90 billion to one odds], if you don’t celebrate degeneracy you will be tarred a fascist” types at every level of movie making to make a difference in such a short period of time.
Marvel firing everybody is a very good sign.
While we haven’t seen a total we have been watching corporate America losing countless billions over the decades on this nagging/lecturing/woke campaign, I can’t think of any from food, to department stores, to motorcycles, to grooming stuff like Gillette, amusement parks, military, to Hollywood that have benefitted from it.
That said, "that's all I got, go away now"
Listens of The Drinker will understand what I just said. :-)
“The Message” or the big knife Hollywood stabs itself in the back with ,LOL
I am a reader, not a listener.
Videos and one-sentence X brain hiccups are ruining FR. Sometimes it’s no more than a thread title.
Pleae post actual articles, people.
Ben & Jerry’s Socialist Scoop ice cream is the long term exception.
You’re not going to get these articles in the print media. Woke editors won’t let them be posted. Social is a faster medium and that’s why articles like these are on You-tube instead.
If you want to read about, you’re probably best to read the comments under the Youtube video.
“I am a reader, not a listener.”
I am the same way.
That said—this particular post is about movies so it is kinda to make the point without showing parts of movies.
:-)
Please stop complaining to Jim Rob because some Freepers appreciate content that could not be sent over a ticker tape machine.
Now there is a person who sees past the problem to the solution.
“I am a reader, not a listener.”
Me too. I never watch videos of people talking. Most written articles are loaded with off-the-subject verbiage, often about the author rather than the subject.
Suggestion: If an article seems to be slow getting to the point, go the end and read from the last paragraph toward the first.
I didn’t listen to the whole thing but skipped ahead for a few segments - movies have almost always had a ‘message’ the difference is that the message of older movies was a message that was timeless. the current crop of movies seem to focus on the current message/angst/cause of the day rather than some truth based on meaningful human nature or God.
I honestly don’t understand the appeal. I rarely participate in boycotts. I did not drink a Bud product while it was in the news until trump lifted it. But Ben and Jerry’s is a horrible ice cream. I tried a few flavors and wasn’t impressed at all.
Except for certain kinds of sherbet, I am, for the most part, lactose intolerant. I wasn’t as a kid, but I am now.
I never got to taste that brand of ice cream to give an honest review. I have a feeling I’m not missing all that much, despite the effective advertising.
I know, I personally prefer Texas Blue Bell 🔔 🛎 and Haagen Dazs myself.
There were Commie movies back in the day—but the propaganda was so subtle that modern audiences totally missed it.
The classic example was “Seconds” starring Rock Hudson.
The anti-corporation “message” was not in any dialog—it was only in symbolism throughout the movie.
These days the Commies just try to cram it down your throat.
