Scheffler shoots course record 62 to win gold..

Scottie Scheffler shot a bogey-free course record 62 at Le Golf National on Sunday for a come-from-behind gold medal victory.

Sure, the impact of the victory will have on his all-time legacy may not be up there with his two green jackets or even his two Ryder Cup victories. But it's no secret that this was his most emotional reaction to a victory.

...

While standing on the podium for the medal ceremony, Scheffler burst into happy tears during the playing of the national anthem.

...

Scheffler now shifts his focus to the FedEx Cup Playoffs and then will all but likely represent the Stars and Stripes at the Presidents Cup against Team International (excluding Europe) at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada.

Golf and tennis don't belong in the Olympics. I think it's a farce to make a big deal of it when both sports have four majors that transcend everything else. I would toss out basketball as well if I could because Olympic basketball is just a continuation of the NBA and I already don't care about the NBA.

Beyond that, I want to point out that while many people hold to the notion that the Olympics were limited to amateurs out of athletic purity, the real reason was to exclude the commoners because only the rich could afford to be amateurs.

Then the US would be competing with high school athletes because nearly every athlete in every sport is accepting some form of NIL Money and some high school athletes are accepting NIL Money because Florida just approved High School athletes getting NIL. money

I posted a positive article about the men’s gymnastics team and the self proclaimed nerd on the team that only competes in the pommel horse , the thread was packed with people proudly slamming something they supposedly don’t even watch, personally I enjoyed the golf and Sheffler’s reaction, so thanks for posting

Delighted that he won. He’s been off his game lately and this was a great place to play at the top of his game again.

Contrast Scottie with our Olympic flag-bearer, who cannot even stand for the national anthem. LeBron will be faced with quite the dilemma if he is on the podium for the playing of "The Star Spangled Banner".

Back in the 60’s the US was competing against the Soviets. The athletes from those countries were supported by the state. They were not “amateurs” by any stretch of the imagination.

The Olympics are supposed to be about the best athletes in the world. Being paid to be the best is what the US is all about. Once our best take “their” best, it is clear that our system is generally superior.

It IS interesting to see, for example, the talent level in Men’s basketball has become truly international. In a preliminary game, South Sudan—who does not have an indoor court—took the US pros deep into the game.

That transition took about 30 years to happen. And that is good for the games.

It turned out that the bronze in the pommel horse was the only individual medal in the Olympics won by an American. Congratulations to the specialist.

The guy is an electrical engineering student at Penn State, he won’t have some ultra successful career in gymnastics with all kinds of endorsements, he will graduate and get a really good job in electrical engineering and live life as a normal guy with a very cool story with 2 bronze medals to tell people about.

I know more about golf than you've been around on this planet Jack.

I've been playing golf since the 60's, and when I was younger I was an 8 handicap and after I retired I played 18-36 holes a day, so if you know more than me that's OK with me.

When I was an 8, I'd play any one with a real handicap, $ 100 match play, with the ability to double after any and all holes.

I've won and lost thousands in a single match, so tell me how much you "know more" than I do.

You talk a lot, but I've been on the planet for 83 years, and today I can barely hit a drive over 200 yards but I still play with guys in my orbit, but I'm past playing for any big bucks.

PGA, LPGA and NBA professionals do not belong in the Olympics.

FWIW, it was only two Olympics ago that it was accepted by the IOC. It never should have happened.

If I want to see Scottie Scheffler play golf (which I don't), I'll tune into any of the upcoming weekend PGA tour events.

Their plight is being sucked in to the gaystapo anti Christian racist BS of the Olympics. Who has spoken out about men beating the snot out of women or that disgusting display of faggotry from the athletes? Aside from the Italian woman who got beat by a man I can’t think of anyone.
