So Team (W)USA's quest for their 8th straight Gold Medal started off on the right foot yesterday with a 102-76 victory over Japan. That result is not the point of this blog, seeing as the team has not even lost a GAME in Olympic play since 1992. My eyebrows didn't raise a millimeter when I saw they won big. However one stat from yesterday's game that did suprise me was to hear that of all the games played thus far, Team USA's was the least attended by a mile.
Look I'm not saying that their cranky head coach Cheryl Reeve needed to bring Caitlin Clark with her on this trip to Paris to take home the gold. I think it's more than obvious that they do not, seeing as Diana Taurasi's 42 year old ass is starting for this team that won't play within single digits of anyone all tournament. But what I am saying is that if Caitlin Clark WAS on this team, at least people would care about it. If a team wins the gold medal but no one watches tree falls in the woods but no one hears it, does it make a sound?
Find me another team in any league or sport where the head and shoulder favorites with the most talent and the most notable players is the lowest attended. Two times as many people went to watch Spain vs. China? More people went to see Serbia vs. Puerto Rico? Nigeria vs. Australia? This is like if everyone showed up on a Friday night to watch the JV game and then went home before the Varsity started.

“haven’t watch a second of it and probably won’t be”

Nor have I. No interest in this spectacle whatsoever.
No she did not. She’s back in Indy practicing with her Fever teammates. I wonder what she’s going to do next time she plays after some rest? A 20-20-20 game? It wouldn’t surprise me.
They’re saving the best for last - the closing ceremony
You have access to a cultural star, the first ages for women’s basketball. You don’t leave her home. It was an unforced error.
Caitlin Clark should be there.
I don’t care for basketball - men’s or women’s. I have enjoyed seeing posts about Caitlin Clark, short clips (impressive play), and interviews. She seems like a well-grounded person.
She must have incredible mental and athletic skills, as she appears to be a scrawny woman and a light breeze would blow her over. I read something the other day where she got the most of something (assists?) every in the WMBA - and she’s a rookie.
Also had the earliest (and I think now the most) “triple doubles”as a rookie - which I had no idea what that meant. Double digit points, assists and rebounds in a game. And she packs the arenas wherever she goes.

For anyone who even cares about something like this; I do to a degree, I was always interested in a human being that produced something that was pretty much superior to any other human being so far in that field of endeavor.
I have watched two basketball games since I got out of High School almost 70 years ago and both of them were the Harlem Globe Trotters.
I picked up the Caitlin drama from the YouTube shorts and I enjoy watching her play, but BasketBall in general I could care less, and I haven't seen anything of the olympics since that poor guy came off the side of the Ski Jump nightly.
Caitlin Clark.
I don’t watch any sports except watching Caitlin Clark. I hope the USA WOMEN TEAM LOSES THE GOLD.
Caitlin Clark team beat the USA WOMEN’S team.
I hate dunking in basketball. Women’s can shoot.
Clark is lucky she didn’t get to go:
CARDBOARD BEDS
VEGAN FOOD-—and NOT ENOUGH OF IT
NO A/C in athlete housing
Whoever dreamed up this scenario should be HUNG on the Olympic flag pole
Coming soon to USA if Harris wins in November.
Who cares? It is the stupid Olympics. It is entirely meaningless except to the athletes who stand to profit off gold medals.
