I try to get the healthiest bread possible which at this point is the Ezekiel bread in the frozen section. Anything on the shelves tastes is, well, tasteless and too sweet ... plus all the nutritious stuff has been removed which is why it can live unrefrigerated on the shelves for months on end.

Predatory journals are basically fakes and there has been an explosion of them with the advent of the internet. It costs them nothing to “publish” since they aren’t ever printing anything.

An easy way to spot them without referring to Beall’s list is to see if they charge the author to publish.

PubMed, one of the best resources for research, doesn’t charge the researchers anything to publish their papers.

Frontiers, on the other hand, charges around $1,000. You pay to play in the world of fake journals.
