Orcas relentlessly battered a yacht in a “terrifying” two-hour attack that didn’t end until the $128,680 vessel sunk to the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea.
...
they were not playing at all, they knew exactly what they were doing. They knew the weak points of the boat, and they knew how to sink it...
“Their sole intention was to sink the boat
...
The five orcas circled the 39-foot sailing boat and took turns smashing it to bits .. in a coordinated assault Powell compared to the carnage of wolves.
...
The pod of five first focused on the rudder, rendering the sailboat unable to steer after about 15 hits.

“They were circling. It was like watching wolves hunt,

Though they were just two miles off the coast of Spain — and the crew radioed for help as soon as the attack began — it took two hours before help arrived.
A Spanish salvage vessel fortunately helped them abandon the stricken ship, minutes before it sunk 130 feet below the Mediterranean’s surface.
...
he tried everything from dropping firecrackers in the water and turning off the engine to deter the attack, but the pod was determined.
“It was a very long attack, and it was really the violence of the attack that surprised me

the same group responsible for terrorizing other skippers in European waters in recent years.

In May, a pack of killer whales sank a 50-foot yacht in Moroccan waters after repeatedly slamming into the vessel.
Orcas also interfered with a sailing race last year

“It’s only a matter of time before someone shoots one of these killer whales

The fight between man and beast is going to get worse. Luckily none of us were in the water or got hurt.

What’s the equivalent of Shoot, Shovel, Shut up on the sea?
Teens with too much time on their hands; sounds like Chicago.
Salt water is fairly conductive.
Use two electrodes, stem and stern, send an AC square wave with sharp rise and fall time through the water. I don’t think the whales would want to linger.
When i was active, aboard the USS South Carolina, we hit a whale in the med. You could feel the initial contact, almost like it slowed the ship, then hear the scrape all the way down the starboard side to the stern. It was dark, we never layed eyes on the whale.
It’s simple ; carry a couple of .308 semiautos an shoot them . Brain shots .They’ll get the message.
...should have taken those stale donuts back to the marina and thrown them in the garbage instead of tossing them overboard.
Time to teach killer whales about...guns. Maybe about “explosive harpoons”.
Doubt it. Orcas are smart enough to know we don’t have much nutritional value. Not enough blubber. They might play with us with deadly consequences.
Nothing a few .308 rounds to the blowhole wouldn’t fix.
Yeah, I had the same observation.
Maybe if they introduce the young whales to Orca porn they would lose interest in these types of activities
Police are investigating it as orcanized crime.
I despise your type... it was TOTAL BULLSHIT gutting out the link the first time due to pop ups and NO ATTACK ON FILM WHAT SO EVER, and now youre going to suck people into dealing with it again!!!??? If I had the button, YOU would be ZOTTED!! at least temporary, but I could forget about you and it be permanent!! spit....
lol
The whales should be taken to court and have to pay damages.
They’ll have to get a bigger court, of course :)
Someone's been watching way too many Disney flicks.
Maybe the Navy could train them to use their destructive ways for good instead of evil.
Call the Japanese, they’d deal with them.🤔
Yes its not sinister they are playing. Orcas play rough. Its learned behavior that they are passing on..
How would they react to active sonar?
