Putin looks like he’d rather be anywhere else at Russia’s Grand Naval Parade

Russia may be proud of its military history and seamen – but Vladimir Putin looks like he would have preferred to be anywhere else during the nation’s state naval display on Sunday.

The Russian president hardly cracked a smile at this morning’s Grand Naval Parade in St Petersburg, a showcasing of around 200 ships and boats all part of the various fleets stationed in Russia’s second city.

During the event, he was seen looking bored and unbothered as he sailed across the city’s water and into the dock while fireworks exploded around him.

-snip-

Meanwhile, Ukraine has over the weekend continued to push on with drone attacks against targets located deep within Russian territory.

Recent blasts at an oil terminal in the eastern Kursk region are widely seen as taking something of the shine off today’s parade in St Petersburg, with Russia’s naval fleet in the Black Sea already rendered largely unoperational by repeat Ukrainian attacks.

bimboeruption: "Here's who you should feel sorry for: An American Veteran who needs a hand but can't get it because funding the Zelensky/Biden Money Laundering Operation is more important to our corrupt government than helping those who have served our country."

Owen #147: "That photo is a bit off.
He’s holding a Veterans Affairs Healthcard.
His printed card says they are not helping."

Sorry, but there is no connection whatever between Ukraine and US veterans' benefits.

How quickly did you forget? --

  1. Many VA problems were addressed by the Trump administration long before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including:

    • 2018 VA Mission Act -- lets veterans seek private care when wait lines are too long at the VA hospital
    • 2017 VA Accountability & Whistleblower protection
    • 2017 Improved veterans appeals process
    • 2017 Enhanced GI Bill benefits
    • 2017 Increased funding for Veterans Choice Program

  2. Even the Biden administration has made what it calls improvements to veterans services -- some before Russia's invasion, others after.
    Those include:

    • The 2024 Equity Action Plan
    • The 2021 PACT Act to address your husband's issues
    • In 2021 a series of reforms largely aimed at "equity" but also including money for veterans' maternity care.
As for alleged "money laundering" I've seen no evidence whatever to support such fanciful claims, and plenty of reasons to believe they are simply Kremlin agit-prop.

So, neither Veterans, nor our borders, nor the national debt, nor the alleged "Communist Revolution" here are in any way related to Ukraine, making all such claims total red herrings -- why do our pro-Russians here keep endlessly harping on those?

You do not fight a coup and communist revolution at home with a war abroad 5000 miles away overseas that is being used to fund the revolution through bribes and theft.

Pretty simple. America first.

We have a poster who received a fraction of the money due to the Veteran after the Veteran died.

I’d say VBA and their lawyer were quite successful.

We have another poster who reads the VBA propaganda and evidently has no real experience with them.

What would people say about a civil court case where your opponent gets to choose your lawyer?

It’s discriminatory and not in line with how the rest of the legal system works.

Go to the front lines and fight.

Your comments betray your own anger at yourself for not going and fighting.

Thank you both for clarification and experience.
I believe many will find such very helpful.

You had no part in the original conversation, know absolutely nothing about the subject, but still butt in trying to make yourself the center of attention by role playing Ms. Helper Bee.

I know your response..."I was only trying to be helpful." BS. Everyone involved is quite familiar with the VBA and certainly knows where to find the link. A fact of which I'm sure you're aware.

You will never-ever fight and win against any coup or revolution anywhere at home or abroad if all you have to offer up is a pile of insane meaningless nonsense.

Pretty simple.

Truth first.

So, the babbling nonsense just never ends, does it?

Cold War I, Old Soviet Fulda Gap
route into West Germany:

In fact, years ago when I was a young man, I did serve in Cold War I -- on the front lines against Old Soviet aggression in West Germany, with V Corps near the Fulda Gap.
We were prepared to stop the Old Soviets from doing there what they are now doing in Ukraine.

Others here tell me it was a suicide mission to stand in the Soviets' way, that we wouldn't even slow them down on their route to the English Channel.
But we didn't think so at the time, and more important, neither did the Russkies -- they stayed put and we did our job of keeping the peace.

Ukraine shows what happens when Russians see Western weakness, stupidity and corruption facing them.

Today I'm an old man, my memory is long, but my stamina is short and so "keyboard warrior" is as close as I can get to the front line of information warfare in Cold War II.

As for your claim of "your own anger at yourself", that can only be your own psychological projection, a pastime typical of our Democrats, not usually seen from Conservative Republicans.

But our anti-Ukers here exist only to draw attention to yourselves by cr*pping all over pro-Ukraine threads.

You really should not be calling anyone else an "attention whore".

Best to turn the other cheek & just ignore:

Ukraine wrecks Russian submarine worth $300m, strikes S-400 anti-aircraft missile system in Crimea

“The successful destruction of the Rostov-on-Don showed that the Russian submarines that remain in the Black Sea are effectively trapped: they cannot leave the sea and there is nowhere to service them, writes the military-analytical portal Defense Express.

The Rostov-on-Don submarine was hit by Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles on September 13, 2023, while in dry dock at the Sevastopol Marine Plant. By June of this year, they were able to patch it up so that it could just stay afloat, and they towed it to Kilen Bay, where the 13th ship repair plant is located. Repairs were supposed to continue there, but on August 2, the submarine was hit by another missile in the side and apparently sank.

“That is, now the Ukrainian Defense Forces have a proven capability to destroy Russian submarines in the still occupied Sevastopol, which are not only in dry dock, but also in the “wall”. And this is a very important aspect, because in the Black Sea in the Russian Federation there are three more submarines of the similar Varshavyanka project B-265 Krasnodar, B-268 Velikiy Novgorod and B-271 Kolpino, as well as the Paltus project B-871 Alrosa,” writes Defense Express.

As analysts note, it was the Sevastopol Marine Plant that was the main repair base for Russian submarines in the Black Sea. And even then, sometimes it was necessary to drive the boats around all of Europe to Kronstadt to carry out certain types of repair work there.

However, the Turkish straits are currently closed to Russian military ships due to the war. It is also highly questionable whether it will be possible to transport them via the system of rivers and canals along the route through the Don and Volga. In theory, ships can still be repaired in Novorossiysk, but the plant there has never dealt with submarines.

“That is, in the Russian Federation, all submarines are currently left without the possibility of full repairs, because for this they need to be driven under attack to occupied Sevastopol. At the same time, the operation of all three Varshavyankas in the Russian Federation is extremely active and the frequency of their repairs and maintenance is higher than peacetime standards,” the experts note.

Defense Express acknowledges that this does not mean that these boats will be out of service “tomorrow”, but without proper ongoing maintenance, the likelihood of a breakdown or even an underwater accident when going out to sea increases significantly.

The submarine’s downing is likely to fuel fears among Russian authorities that spies are tipping off Ukrainian commanders about the best times to strike, The Telegraph reports. Let us recall that on September 13, 2023, occupied Sevastopol came under missile attack, and a large-scale fire was reported on the territory of the marine plant .

It soon became known that the submarine Rostov-on-Don and the large landing ship Minsk had been damaged during the attack. In mid-July, it was reported that the occupiers had allegedly completed its repairs .

On August 3, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the effective destruction of the Russian Black Sea Fleet submarine Rostov-on-Don.”
