When we acknowledge the origin of the word "Christian," we see that Trump is possibly communicating the idea that as a believer in the Gospel of Christ, he doesn’t regard the mockery of those who try to mock him.
The title of this thread is mine, not the one used by the author of the article referenced.
Yes, I heard that last night, noted it, and figured he just misspoke. Are you suggesting there is more to this?
I just assumed he misspoke . I’d have to rewatch that part of the speech again .
I regard Trump as a deist, like many of the Founders. He conspicuously declined to recite the Nicene Creed at the GHW Bush funeral, unlike the phony “Christians” in attendance, Obama and the Clintons, who actually don’t believe a word of it. I respect Trump’s honesty in this.
I would rather have a defender of the Christian Faith (regardless of Trumps personal beliefs)than an impostor claiming to be one, yet imposing to deny one’s Christian Liberties to practice our Christian Faith.
When someone says they are not a Christian, I believe them.
It can be manifest in various ways.
I hope President Trump's doctors are on the lookout for it.
It sounds like he was clarifying, “My beautiful Christians, I’m a Christian.” Maybe just slurring his words a little to sound like I’m-na-Christian.
I doubt he was thinking about the origin of the word Christian.
I never considered him a Christian. I’m 99% sure he doesn’t go to church regularly (if at all). I think he believes and I think he believes in Jesus.
But is he religious? Is he orthodox? Heck no.
Do I think he follows God’s word more than Mike Pence?
Absolutely.
Take of that as you will.
I racked up the video of the point in his speech where he said it. Check it out for yourself -- maybe you will want the mods to pull the thread afterwards?

Also, this is the segment where President Trump speaks about "fixing" the elections, which the LAAP-dog media is twisting into "fix the elections so you don't have to vote anymore."

To me it sounds like Trump says I’ma-christian” kinda strung together.
the poster is wrong, no way does it sound like trump says “I’m not a christian” he doesn’t say “a” in there at all. And no clear “t” for. not either.
either “I’ma christian” or “I’mna christian”
God knows.
I just assume like so many christians and non christians I know Trump is human, a work in progress, some what in touch with God.
Listening to the video, it’s hard to tell if he said “I’m not Christian” or “I’m a Chistian” with an emphasis on the “a” in his unusual way of speaking.
I watched the video AND TRUMP SAID HE WAS CHRISTIAN.
It is outrageous this garbage is allowed here.
What nonsense. Even if he isn’t a Christian, he’d still say he was. It would be stupid to say otherwise, and he knows that. They are trying to hypnotize us into believing untrue things.
Too bad George Steponallofus wasn’t there to save the day, a la Obama and his “Muslim faith” — oops, “Christian faith.”
I don’t care.
He said “I’m a Christian,” with his hand over his heart. Might not have been completely clear.
I like this reply, that I read on Truth Social ...
“Slow the playback speed down to 75% and you’ll likely hear that he said “I’m a Christian”. His enunciation wasn’t super tight, but certainly understandable considering all that he’s be put through for the past eight years, and with heavy emphasis on what they’ve done to him just in the past six months. Let’s not help the other side.”
Hear, hear. ✝️
