This is the moment Vladimir Putin's forces were left humiliated when one of his biggest recent assaults of his war on Ukraine ended in substantial losses.
The Russian leader had ordered his troops to capture more territory in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, but the push near Kurakhove resulted in mass death and destruction.
The failed assault led to the reported deaths of 40 invaders, and left 37 more injured.
Russia is carrying out intense attacks in multiple sections of the eastern front, but in a Ukraine victory, troops managed to fend off 29 attacks in Kurakhove alone, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Dmytro Hutsuliak revealed in its latest update.
Ukrainian paratroopers destroyed six Russian tanks and seven advancing armoured combat vehicles as they were hit by kamikaze drones, it said.
The Russian attack group was also targeted by anti-tank gunners, said Ukraine's 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade - also known as the Taurian Brigade.
The Russian army launched the attack from several directions simultaneously early Wednesday morning, the brigade said, while sharing the footage of the assault.
The brutal attack reportedly involved some 57 armoured vehicles, 11 tanks, 12 motorcycles, and 200 assault vehicles.

Daily Mail...lol The weekly World News of the UK
MI-6 has issued their daily talking points to the British press.
Indeed, the headline of “1.8 million” is a (maybe valid, maybe not) British intelligence prediction.
The actual article involves a largish skirmish that, yes, apparently went badly for attacking Russians. But the casualties were more like 50 dead and 50 wounded (roughly, going by memory). And the loss of a lot of tanks and APCs, which is hardly news anymore in this fight. Both sides need to give it up and only use heavy stuff defensively. It’s too vulnerable.
They tried to make this sound like the Battle of the Bulge.

“The Russian army is suffering its highest casualties since it invaded Ukraine. Is Putin running out of soldiers to keep his war going?”
There will be a ceasefire followed by peace talks. The media will attribute it all to Kammy H in an effort to show just how great she is at international politics.
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Putin's forces are humiliated in footage from one of the biggest recent assaults of the Ukraine war that ended in huge losses: Russia says it is ready for peace talks as it faces losing '1.8 MILLION troops', UMCRevMom@aol.com wrote: CORRECTION: President Zelenski has wanted peace wanted peace talks from the very beginning. Zelensky said the only peace negotiation he would accept was full withdrawal of all Russian troops and payment for damage to Ukraine infrastructure due to fighting. This isn't actually a peace negotiation - it's a demand that the war cease and the Ukraine be given the support normally received for the side that actually won. It's closest to a demand that Russia surrender, not negotiate. These are not reasonable requests, but it allowed him, and his shills, to pose him as a peace maker.
Putin has said he proceeds at a pace at which he will accept losses. His troop levels have continued to go up since the start of the war in 2022. It's the Ukraine which has run out of soldiers.

“The commander of one of the motorized rifle platoons of the Russian Armed Forces said that the losses in his brigade are twice as high as its total strength. Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov drew attention to this.
On the video made public on social networks, the Russian lieutenant admits that the army of Ukraine killed or wounded about 12 thousand of his fellow soldiers, but the command is concealing this.
“The staff strength of the Russian brigade is up to 6 thousand people. That is, the losses amount to 200% of the personnel. Given that almost all losses are infantry units, and the number of infantry in the brigade is up to 50% of the formation, it is obvious that the infantry has been renewed four times. The Russian army maintains its combat capability only by constantly replenishing its personnel. And judging by the video, the Russian officer had some bad premonitions,” Butusov noted.
Through open-source research, Mediazona, a Russian independent media outlet, together with BBC Russia, confirmed the names of 59,725 Russian soldiers who had been killed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Since Mediazona’s last update in early July, the names of 1,518 Russian soldiers have been added to the list of casualties.
The journalists note that the actual figures are likely significantly higher, as their verified information comes from public sources such as obituaries, posts by relatives, regional media reports, and statements from local authorities.
On July 5, Russian media outlets Meduza and Mediazona published a report indicating that approximately 120,000 Russian troops have been killed since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Russian army casualties have risen sharply in recent months amid a failed renewed Russian offensive.
According to research by BBC Russia and Mediazona, Russia lost over 10,000 soldiers in Ukraine over the past six months. President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed in an interview with the BBC on July 18 that around 20,000 Russian troops were killed during Russia’s failed offensive in Kharkiv Oblast. Since Russia began its all-out war against Ukraine, over 3,700 officers, with 437 holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or higher have been killed in combat in Ukraine. The analysts note that at least 11,933 Russian inmates have been killed on Ukraine’s eastern front.”
I’m flashing back in history to 1933 when Hitler violated the treaty of Versailles by remilitarizing the Rheinland. In an alternate history, France takes military action against Germany and, supported by Britain and the U.S., goes to war with Germany. All three would have been accused of being “warmongers”.
In this alternate history, Germany is stopped early, Hitler is deposed, and with comparatively little cost. Had France and allies done so, think of all the lives that could have been saved. But no one would know that because WW II never happened.
Europe | Racing against timeHalf Ukraine’s power is knocked out; winter is coming
Ingenuity can get you only so far
Jul 15th 2024|KYIVOn a tour of a destroyed power plant—unidentified for security reasons—the monumental damage wrought by Russia’s spring campaign against Ukraine’s electricity-generation infrastructure is clear. The vast Soviet-era coal-fired power station is gutted: walls charred by a fire that that burnt for over 24 hours, windows blown out, roof collapsed, machinery wrecked, pipes and ducts broken; everywhere a mess of rubble, twisted metal support struts, flayed steel cables, wire. [PAYWALL]
Daily Mail? Not even worth reading.
Sorry to tell you and break the news that Ukraine is toast and this is total bullchit you are posting.

Me too. The Q stuff was more credible than this nonsense and they were contained.
The headline sys 1.8 MILLION but the article says “The failed assault led to the reported deaths of 40 invaders, and left 37 more injured.”
Half of the Ukies power? Try 80 percent, as stated by their Interior Minister. The bigger picture? Most all of the power generation equipment ( large transformers) are made in Russia.
Vlad has now started eliminating the generating facilities ( not just transformers), the Ukies will be unplugged for a long time.
The “ crown jewel” hydro plant dam near Kiev has NOT been hit- yet. Vlad is saving that one for “ the end”.
Ukraine struggles in their fight for freedom as did our Revolutionary soldiers endured their struggle for freedom.
“Within days, of arriving at Valley Forge, troops constructed 1,500 to 2,000 log huts in parallel lines that would house 12,000 soldiers and 400 women and children throughout the winter. Washington directed that each hut measure approximately 14 feet by 16 feet.
Sometimes the soldiers’ families joined them in the space as well. Soldiers were instructed to search the countryside for straw to use as bedding since there were not enough blankets for everyone.
In addition to the huts, the men built miles of trenches, military roads and paths. One officer said the camp “had the appearance of a little city” when viewed from a distance. General Washington and his closest aides lived in a two-story stone house near Valley Forge Creek.”
