The following important dispatch from Niagara Falls to the Rochester Democrat, was telegraphed to a private party in this City, last evening. We do not vouch for its accuracy.
NIAGARA FALLS, Wednesday, July 20.
Two weeks ago, GEO. N. SANDERS, C.C. CLAY, of Alabama, JACOB THOMPSON, of Mississippi, and J.P. HOLCOMB, of Virginia, arrived at the Clifton House, just across the river from this place. Their arrival was duly announced in the public press, and the object of their mission was understood to be to consult with the Democratic leaders of the North in reference to the Chicago Convention.
Results proved, however, that they had a double purpose in view, which was first developed to HORACE GREELEY by GEORGE N. SANDERS, who wrote to Mr. GREELEY, stating that Messrs. CLAY, THOMPSON and HOLCOMB were duly recognized Commissioners of the Confederate Government, and desired to know what terms could be made for terminating the war between the two sections. He added, however, that these Commissioners were not specially authorized to negotiate for a cessation of hostilities or a restoration of the Union, but that they would like to have an informal conference with such persons as the United States Government might indicate to meet them. These facts having been presented to Mr. LINCOLN, he requested Mr. GREELEY to act in the matter as he thought advisable under the peculiar circumstances, and stated that he (Mr. L.) should at any time be pleased to receive propositions from those who had been in arms against the Government for a return to their allegiance and duty as citizens of the Union. He also stated that he should be pleased to see the Union restored upon any terms consistent with the present and future safety, welfare and honor of the Government.

The rebs wanted to be able to keep unfreed slaves as slaves. Glad there was no deal. There was something very wrong with those southerners from the beginning of our republic. If anything, the North was too easy on them after their surrender.
You know I am loving reading and learning from uour posts.
This one is something I never knew about.
Even at the end tge Rebels showed nothing changed for them.
Many of my beloved Yankee friends are feeling like freeing the peoples was a waste of time.
I understand but doesn’t seem fair . Consider the history between 1865 and 1964.
The decision was right and would have remained right if not for LBJ
Good point. I was screaming from the street corner
The “decision” on slavery. Secession was never “decided” and is still talked— from Texas and many other places. Since LBJ is correct who weaponized the Great Society to keep “em” voting for 100 years for demonrats. To the point that the last Zumwalt class pos frigate is named— USS Lyndon B Johnson (sponsored by his two spawn hags from his actual wife)- a ship whose Motto is :”In Defense of Great Society”. Decided by Ray Mabus under obamaumao the first- who called LBJ a “decorated war hero of wwII”- a laughable massive falsehood. And the vessel is still at Ingalls in MS shipyard, not even a shakedown cruise-6 years later.
Radical repubs weren’t going to let Lincoln re-patriate the masses- which he wanted to do to bind up the devastation of the workers in both armies financially in terrible shape. So they killed him. Stanton was in like a tick with war profiteers (there is much evidence of this, as well as his possession of Booth’s diary never presented, and also missing crucial date/pages torn out), and.. ran the spy ring who ran the original Dahlgren raid (led by Judson Kilpatrick,btw-another psycho) as well as infiltrated the MD to Canada original kidnapping ring of Booth. Booth having been a member of the Richmond militia, and took part in the capture of John Brown and witnessed his hanging. Such prosopography is so rarely described by “historians” as the re-write the narratives.
That is good news about the LBJ ship wallowing unfinished. What he did to blacks and our country is shameful
Clearly intentional, and designed to destroy any black family units, headed up by black males— and preserve a massive demographic of the culturally preserved African matriarchy, with the head of household holding the welfare state funds. Calculated, evil, disgusting man who murdered many people to get to the top. Read about his apologetic mentor Sen. Richard Russell— sorry to have ever sponsored this monster. Listen to the released archived phone calls between LBJ and Sen. Russell badgering Russell to serve on the Warren Commission with its chief Allen Dulles. Richard Russell was the last of the statesmen, from olde Georgia.
I will find and listen
I am from Texas. Sorry he is too
