The book is pretty roundly derided as being a bunch of BS. Presumably the movie is also.
I’ve heard of it. Now I’m planning on it.
Yes. It’s good. Book is better. Glenn Close as the grandmother.
Just watch it last night. I honestly didnt know much of anything about Vance. I like him more after seeing the story.
Now that Trump has chosen Vance, I’m planning on it probably next week (after the RNC). Never read the book.
I saw it, it was okay. Just okay. We saw it for free.

So it's one of those.
My wife and I watched it on Netflix last night. We both enjoyed it. It’s very intense. His mother was a very complicated character. Drug addict, anger management problems, etc. She raised him as a single mother with support from her parents. It’s worth watching in my opinion.
Absolutely.
Do your own research and watch it, don’t believe the BS you see on here.
I’ve watched it twice and never had any idea Ron Howard was associated in anyway with the film.
It’s a good portrait of rural life in the Appalachian Mountains.
Watched it last night! I watched part of it about 3 years ago and for whatever reason just couldn’t finish it. But in light of the fact that I now know it’s about the life story of our new VP I watched it again. The actors and actresses in that movie are superb. Amy Adams and Glenn Close are off the charts with Talent. The story is very sad in a lot of ways especially knowing that it is really true based on what’s happening in Rural America but I liked it a lot
I wouldn’t.
Hollywood crap.
I’ve seen it. It’s kind of a Cinderalla story (except for a guy from Kentucky). It’s not bad, but its also not great. I’d give it a 6/10.
However, it’s a more compelling story than anything Obama wrote.
Thanks everybody for your replies.
Gonna watch it during dinner tonight!
I read the book when it first came out and liked it very much. I did not detect “a bunch of bs” as taunted above. I gifted the book to others, as well. I supposed it helps that I’m only one generation away from being raised in that hardscrabble Scots-Irish culture myself, so it rang pretty true to me.
I read the book. I thought it was quite good.
Watched it the other night, after the announcement. Plenty of cussing, in case that offends. Love the story, although it was a bit long. Nonetheless, it was a good way for me to introduce our future VP to my lady and kids.
Thank you all for the replies
Anything by Ron Howard is probably not worth your time. It’s probably hateful and slanderous to the right knowing Ron’s leftwing politics.
