Over the past few decades, earth scientists have grappled with the concept of solar geoengineering: cooling the rapidly warming planet by injecting particles high into the atmosphere to reflect sunlight, for example. Now, researchers are proposing a new way to battle the effects of climate change that could prove even more costly and controversial: glacial geoengineering, designed to slow sea level rise.
A white paper, released on 11 July by glaciologists who conducted a series of workshops and town halls over the course of 10 months, calls for boosting research into daring plans that would protect vulnerable ice sheets by building flexible barriers around them or drilling deep into them to slow their slippage into the sea.
But these untested ideas are stirring up a backlash among glaciologists, some of whom view them not only as outlandishly expensive and logistically flawed but also as a distraction from the problem of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.....

The oceans were 20 to 30 feet higher about eight to nine thousand years ago when global warming peaked out.
And it will only cost $1 trillion dollars (per month).
A bargain at any price!
So they admit barriers work then.
LMAO
these people are MORONS
try building a barrier around a melting icecube in a glass and see how well that goes!
LMAO
They know the democrats will waste hundreds of billions of dollar on any scam , ANY SCAM
Fortunately, these idiots aren't saddled with that kind of burden.
Use a really big drinking straw that goes all the way to the moon. As it melts, suck it up and spit it out in craters.
Had to wait till the very end: “it would be silly not to accept research funding” to explore glacier engineering issues. End of story.
Joe’ll be eager for the glacier vote.
“ It’s so simple. You need to snuff the sun out.”
Perhaps they can just pass out special 4”x4” squares of cardboard to all greenies. When the start to hyperventilate over global warming they can hold their cardboard square at arms length while looking at the sun. Presto! The sun is blocked and you are saving the planet!
I thought we were going to block out the sun with a space umbrella? What happened?
The wind in outer space blew it away. Turned inside out and flew off. There goes another trillion.

More schemes and dreams from High Places.
In the 1960s The Green House Effect was blamed on the sun rays penetrating the atmospheric pollution, changing it’s wave length and not being reflected back into space, like in a green house heating up.
In the 1970s the claim was we were entering a NEW ICE AGE because the sun rays were hitting the earth and being reflected off by our atmospheric pollution. There were plans to mine coal, grind it to dust, mix it with oil and spray it on the ice fields to INCREASE the global temperature.
Now this nonsense.
Reminds me of this on 9-11. US ground temps rise.

Or maybe they could pump ocean water into low places like Death Valley and the Grand Canyon when the sea level begins to rise. They could have the equipment on the ready.
If they could get enough helicopters they might be able to lift the glaciers and plop them down on the Sahara Desert or something like that and solve two birds with one stone so to speak.
Or they could take all that carbon dioxide they’re deathly afraid of, and freeze it down to dry ice, and then use the helicopters to drop the dry ice on the glaciers. Also two birds.
Okay. You win the prize for the best solution.
Except I don’t believe it’s a real problem. If the sea levels are going to rise, build dykes and install sea pumps and harbor locks. Melting ice caps is good for the fish, the fishermen, the whales and the whalers.
