“First on my list of groups that I regret never having seen in concert.”
I saw them twice in 1970. Their sound was raw, thin and incomplete. They needed a touring musician on guitar and keyboards. You know that Jimmy Page guitar was triple tracked onto their songs in the studio/
For every band or artist on that list, there were American bands and artists.
For example, yes, Dusty Springfield was born and raised in England, but she was influenced by American music.
In comparison, Bobbie Gentry was American, and so were Cher and Vicki Lawrence.
None of them had to affect an American accent like Dusty did. They were the real deal. (No offense to Dusty.)
I liked both American and British bands, but the Brits didn't do American culture better than we did.
i saw Page multiple times post Zeppelin, including with the Firm
Did You stay out of trouble with Your Teacher ?
I come from a military family. My dad and uncle served, my two brothers served and my mom was a military brat. All of them were my teachers, and no, I didn’t sass any of them back. One good thing though, I didn’t have homework -LOL but I did have study time.
Boy, isn’t that the truth !!!
I had a collection of Ticket Stubs and matching T-Shirts. Unfortunately they disappeared in My divorce from wife #1, the bitch...
It was a very extensive collection amassed over 6 years any of the major Groups that came through Houston in the 1970’s I was there. And in the 80’s in Austin.
Tull, Kiss, Yes, Genisis, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, The Stones, Van Halen (several times), Elton John, ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd (Animals), Frampton, ZZ Top, Little Feet (several times), The Who, Ted Nugent, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Foghat, Frank Zappa, CSNY, Robin Trower, Rush (multiple times), Aerosmith, Styx, Nazareth, Cheap Trick, Kansas, CSN (Crosby, Stills and Nash), Foreigner, Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Supertramp, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I’m sure that I missed a few but that’s probably due to “excessive party favors” being consumed back in the day.
Yes. They did debut some new stuff from the soon to be released “House’s of the Holy”
Summa Home Laude deluxe.
You betcha.
So good.
In between the last time we came and this time- we managed to get and album out....
Wow, you went to so many concerts. What a great time to be alive. I only went to about a dozen, some of them with multiple bands, including six of the bands on your list, mostly in the early to mid-80s. Although I didn’t have many “party favors,” I vaguely remember those concerts, except when something unusual happened - such as, when we were close to the stage, or when there was some trouble. Wish I’d saved all those ticket stubs. I lost all my t-shirts, too. :-(
Oh, no... I just heard that Trump was shot.
