We climbed trees, skinned knees, and played outside for most of our childhood before the scourge that is the Internet came about. I say this somewhat ironically as a Gen-Xer who never gets sick but has a head cold at the moment.
Here is an interesting thought:
Gen-X and the older millennials were in that range who did the least amount of smoking. The previous generations smoked cigarettes and the gen-z are doing the vaping.
George Carlin - germs and the immune system (Language)

Ok, fine. I just looked up and I qualify, but you’ll NEVER hear/read me reference myself as such.
To answer the question generically, “not universally.”
My experience: Death is all around me.
But the point ought be exposure to germs/viruses (not to mention home cooked food) vs. millennials etc. who were raised in sterile environments on processed food, made to wear masks and got the clot shot.
In those respects, an enthusiastic, “HELL YEAH!!”
Take some vitamin C, vitamin D, and some zinc (balanced with copper) along with some exercise daily and your immune system will be top notch.
Although I have succumbed to the occasional respiratory illness in my younger days, in the past 25 years, I haven't gotten so much as a cold, not even the dreaded Wuhan Flu. No food allergies, gluten or lactose intolerance, nothing. Just the occasional bout of gastritis brought on by stress.
My wife, also GenX, believes we are going to be “skipped” in many ways. The Boomers are overshadowing us in government (case in point: Trump and Biden). The Millenials are trying to force changes at a social level and get more entitled as time goes on. Gen Z is just brainwashed.
I have a feeling we’re going to continue to be the producers, and when we retire, things will start to fall apart. I hope I’m wrong, but things aren’t looking great.
Raised on hosewater and neglect. Ginger Ale was our penicillin.
I fear your wife is correct.
Gen X will start the crusades.
All good points. To that I would cut down on sugar because sugar stresses the immune system, and also vitamin D preferably from moderate sunshine. Sunshine is more than just an enabler of vitamin D. It actually stimulates immune cells.
“I would add”
“Generation X encompasses the children born in the ‘60s and ‘70s when shifting societal and cultural changes started by the after-effects of World War II were becoming more prominent.”
Our adult children and our adult nephews and nieces are gen X’s.
Besides being good citizens, workers, bosses, they are hard working and are often in middle management or as VP’s.
Many of the females became RN’s and are rounding out careers as health care post Covid has become a lot of B$.
Some as young adults had to be told to find an apartment or get a roommate and get out of the home. The rest had good jobs before they finished.
None have nor will serve in the military. A large % of their
parents or uncles had served in our military from Nam to 9/11 and zero with our recent and current wars.
their real degrees.
Reduction of sugar intake helps significantly!
No we old bastards do!
Genx is all jabbed and only God and fauxci know their expiration date!
As teenagers, us Gen Xers drank Mad Dog 2020 and smoked Mexican brick weed from a dirty beer can. I think our immune systems are essentially bulletproof.
“Raised on hosewater and neglect. Ginger Ale was our penicillin.”
That’s about the best tagline for Gen Xers I have ever seen.
Hope you don’t mind if I steal it and paste it all over the world.
In addition, how many Millennials and Zoomers were packed off to be cared for by strangers all day from the age of 6 weeks?
I am GenX and rarely serious illness. Caught walking pneumonia in college ( i didn’t think it was real until I got it). Since then, i get an sinus infection if i get rained on or a strong wind blowing = something to do with my ears.
At 35 I started taking Vitamin D3 (10,000 IU) and C daily. Doctor told me I had too much D in my system. I ignored him.
No flu or cold for 25 years = had a couple of sinus infections because I didn’t take proper precautions in rain/wind. Lived all over the country the previous 25 years avoiding infections until I moved to AZ three years ago - I get something every 3 months. I have to travel to Los Angeles every three months and come back with an illness - maybe that is the connection
