There was this device I remembered from I think a James Bond movie where this device the size of a deck of cards worked like a mouse trap but only more vicious - it had hand sized opening and was set with a spring. When someone reached into a pocket or purse it would snap shut - long sharp spikes would clamp on to the hand and it would take a special key to release it.
