House Democrats anguished over President Joe Biden’s spiral are consumed by one question: Can anything save their chances of flipping the House?
So far only three endangered Democrats have publicly called for Biden to leave the presidential race. But behind the scenes, the dozens of battleground members and candidates whose races will determine the House majority are in a “hair-on-fire” level of panic, in the words of one House aide.
Battleground members have placed urgent calls to leadership and Biden’s team, commissioned new polls back home and even mulled sending a letter to Biden himself, according to more than a dozen lawmakers, aides and operatives who work on competitive congressional races.
And one group of battleground Democrats even told House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries this week that Vice President Kamala Harris would be a better nominee in their districts than Biden, according to a person familiar with the exchange.
They always knew they would need to outperform Biden in their districts. But now many fear the political gravity may be too much to overcome — and Republicans will win full control of the federal government.
“Is he going to take the whole ship down?” one House Democrat, who is close to leadership, said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe the party’s turbulence.
So far 14 members — and counting — have called on Biden to bow out of the race, mostly from safe blue seats. Others have said he has no chance to beat former President Donald Trump and started to position themselves as a check on his power. The rest are watching and waiting nervously, some with pre-drafted statements in case of another Biden flub.

their plan was to hit Trump with a one two punch and shift the polls finally in their direction.
The first punch was supposed to be the trumped up charges, especially the felonies timed perfectly to be used to maximum effect at the debate. The second punch was supposed to be the debate itself.
Now they have taken their best shots and their guy not only hasn’t landed a blow, but somehow managed to hurt those rooting for him from the stands!

There is a good chance to take commanding control of the House. And an outside shot of getting 60 Senate seats; well, hopefully.
And seize the presidency. We already have the Supreme Court, most days.
It occurs to me that, traditionally, Democrat shenanigans during the Presidential election don’t help down-ballot candidates very much. Often there are ballots hastily printed with only the President selected. The Congressional candidates mostly ride the coattails of legitimate votes.

I was thinking this exact thing as i was at the river here in Sacramento yesterday. It was over 110 degrees and the GF and I were there to submerge in the cold water and enjoy the wildlife, which is plentiful. Instead we were treated to 3 large groups of Afghanis who were littering and destroying the beautiful American River parkway. The group closest to us, the older men were fishing. Ive watched them fish before and they do no abide by any rules on how many fish you can take. They also leave whatever garbage they took out there. It is incredibly sad (and infuriating) what many of the 80,000+afghanis that have been dumped here in Sacramento, do to the many rivers and lakes we have here. I cannot believe what has happened and absolutely nothing can be done to remedy the situation.

It remains to be seen if the democrats can persuade Americans to ignore their “lived experience” with inflation, invasion, war, unemmployment, etc. and choose to elect democrats to continue the misery into perpetuity.
If Republicans need Biden’s senility to win — because they are incapable of raising their many winning issues — they are in worse shape than ever.
Democrats are handing the election to the GOP on a Silver Platter, let's see how many ways the GOP screws this up.
Sad but true, all the Republicans have is “We Suck Less”.
Politico is spewing such BS. Biden didn’t “suddenly” melt down. He has been melting down for two years and Politico and their buddies in the press covered it up. The “suddenly” is that Politico couldn’t cover up the meltdown anymore.
Something can be done. Deportations can happen. We need Trump and maybe the Senate and House. There is hope.
If only they were mere freeloaders, it would be a catastrophe. But it’s far, far worse than that. We now have an epidemic of organized third world crime sweeping the country, perpetrated by gangs of criminals who came here with exactly that intent. And that doesn’t include the unknown number of Islamic terrorists who have likely entered, nor the hordes of military-age Chinese men who may represent a CCP-planned advance force to disrupt our society and prepare the ground for far worse.
We are literally under attack right this minute. This is a national emergency.
Can and will be done.
