Whoopi Goldberg, the star actress of Sister Act and The Colour Purple, has come under significant public backlash after she had some harsh advice for Gen Zs and millennials.
Goldberg emphasised during a session on The View, where she hosts alongside others, that they "just need to work harder" if they want to purchase property and provide for their families.

Her only good movie was Jumpin Jack Flash
She’s a real stupid woman on a real stupid panel. He hostility and racism is always present
Well, she’s absolutely right in this case.
they “just need to work harder”. WORK???? The horror!
“ that they “just need to work harder” if they want to purchase property and provide for their families.”
Wow.
I’m surprised to see ANY negative comments here.
That’s very good advice
It’s great when Democrats defend inflation. It helps bust the myth that they’re the party for average working people.
Man, she be lookin’ like she been whipped with an ugly stick.
> Well, she’s absolutely right in this case. <
That she is. On the other hand, I always find it a bit concerning when a millionaire casually gives generic advice to folks who are just trying to make next month’s rent.
“Just work harder” is kinda like saying “Have a nice day.” It sounds good, but doesn’t really mean much.
For any DEI candidate, the sky’s the limit regardless how hard you work! For others, just sit back and watch and STFU.
Exactly... Whoopi didn’t do Sister Act II because she wanted to... She did it for the money $$$$$$.
Well, the idea behind her statement is correct, but in today’s financial climate, can anyone afford housing?
“ For any DEI candidate, the sky’s the limit regardless how hard you work! For others, just sit back and watch and STFU.”
Well I don’t what’s in her mind.
But maybe at a certain age liberals wake up a bit and realize that perpetual excuses from those younger wear thin.
Those excuses weren’t an option when the Whoopster grew up.
I know people woking hard. Meanwhile the politicians continue to devalue the dollars that they earn. Whoopi’s comment and yours are unfortnate. As are the similar comments that follow yours.
Work harder serfs! Right?
While in general the advice of “just need to work harder” is often good, her saying it does kind of remind me of the politicians telling the laid-off miners (in a condescending and hypocritical way) to “just learn coding.”
I don’t fault Whoopi, or folks who agree with her. Because she’s right. But as I noted in my post #9, her comments are empty, vapid.
It would never happen, but here’s what Woopie should have said:
“Trump wants to bring industry back to America. That would mean good factory jobs for everyone. And Trump wants to reduce regulations that are strangling American businesses. Vote Trump!”
Work harder! Millions and millions of illegal immigrants, welfare recipients, homeless drugs addicts, and Ukrainians are counting on you!
The whole tree done fell on her
Hard work AND a government that doesn't devalue ones hard earned dollars are both needed.
When Whoppi mentions the former while she covers up the latter, she is wrong.
And make no mistake about it, she is covering up for the establishment's malfeasance.
But the policies of the Dems that caused inflation make that a kind of blind attitude to what is going on for the next Gen.
From the article:
“ The fervent financial guru stated: “Hi Whoopi, I’m Freddie I run numbers on the internet and I’ve got to show you something. The minimum wage in 1980 was three dollars and ten cents, it is now seven dollars and twenty-five cents. The average salary was 12,500, it’s now 59,000, the household income was £22,000 and now it’s only £77,000 for a 3.5 increase.”
“However rent was $234 on average, now it is $1900 for a 7.8 times increase. The house price was $47,000, it is now $419,000 for an 8.9 times increase. And the big one - college was $2.3K, it is now $30,000 - thirteen times more expensive.”
He elaborated that if average incomes had kept pace with housing and university costs, salaries would need to be $171,000 and household incomes should be at $286,000. “So whooping with all due respect, I think millennials and Gen Z’s have it at least eight to 10 times harder than you all did.””
