An upstate New York city is outraged after a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed in a struggle with cops after allegedly flashing a pellet gun, according to police.

Nyah Mway was fatally shot by a Utica police officer around 10:20 p.m. on Friday night after police stopped him and another minor while they were walking down the street, police said.

Video circulating on social media shows three officers chasing the boy down a dark street and one tackling him to the ground. The two other cops join in the fray as bystanders yell at the officers.

That's a good post..
A cop has just as much right to defend his life as any other man.
NO ONE should need to be shot before they can legally defend themselves.

"Pellet guns are supposed to display a strip of bright orange tape, for exactly this reason."

I've never heard of such a thing..

"While it's legal in NY State for a 16 year old to own a pellet gun, "to legally posses a pellet gun in New York, you must obtain the appropriate licenses and follow all applicable firearm regulations. This includes meeting age requirements, completing background checks, and registering the weapon if required by law. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in serious legal consequences."

The only thing I can fugure is, NY must be plum full of damned fools and chicken s**ts.. Y'all best be getting the heck out of there..

Too old to go anywhere else. I’ve been living in the Mohawk Valley since the 70’s. It’s a red county, and the small city I live in, so far has little crime.

I had an Uncle who lived in upstate NY. Albany, and the folks there were absolutely wonderful to meet and talk with. They would greet you when you meet them on the street. They would stop you, ask your where from, and talk like they've known you for years.. But, that was back in the late 70's..

Everything has changed....and not for the better.. :(

My oldest son has been living in Troy, New York for over 25 years. He lives in a three-floor brownstone just down the street from Russell Sage College. There's alternate street parking. Quite a while ago, he had to begin renting a UPS box for his packages, because after all the years he's been living there, and never had a problem, someone began stealing packages from the front stoops of the brownstones which line the block. The building he lives in has a stone staircase that leads to the front door of the building. It's the main entry way for the three people who live in the building, and it's locked all the time.

He's had his car clipped by city plows during the winter. Last year, within a six month period, he had his car hit and heavily damaged. The first time he was parked in front of his building, and a drunk driver came down the street and bounced off several cars. Hit his back end, and pushed his car into the one in front, and then up over the curb. Cops caught the person, but don't you know, the cameras on his street were down for repair at the time.

The second time he was parked on the side street, and he thinks somebody who parked in the college parking lot across the street from him, came out and clipped him. The side street is a one-way street like his is. And the other problem is that despite having a big parking lot that students can park in, they won't, and instead, park on the street, taking up the spots of the people who live there. I can't tell you how many times I've visited him over the years, and multiple times during the day and night, you hear police or firetruck sirens blaring on their way down his street.

Yup, I've been around, worked many different kinds of jobs in many different kinds places.. From Cincinnati to El Paso.. And the one thing I've learned over the years is this.. Stay the heck out of the big cities.!

I really luck out when I found a great job in the Appellation hills of Southern Ohio.. I got to raise my son out here in the boonies. But, even here, it's getting more dangerous with every passing year. Nowadays we see LOTS of foreigners at the local Wal-Mart. Ohio is pretty much a "constitutional carry" state, so nearly everyone packs a roscoe.

Well, maybe it's like they say, "It's got to get worse before we can make it better." We'll just have to wait and see what's around the next bend.... I got a feeling what's around that bend ain't going to be any fun at all... :(

I grew up in Rochester, NY. Left there around 1973, and moved to the Mohawk Valley. I live in a small city in a Red County. There is very little crime. Most of the sirens we hear are the fire department headed to Griffiss Business Park. It used to be Griffiss Air Base, but Bill Clinton closed it. We haven’t got hit with an overwhelming number of illegals being sent here...at least I haven’t seen any at my local Walmart, so I figure that’s pretty good. No hijabs anyway.

Dude, seriously? This “pig” worked for the state for 25 years and never managed to shoot anybody, especially the innocent ones. Grow up.
