An upstate New York city is outraged after a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed in a struggle with cops after allegedly flashing a pellet gun, according to police.
Nyah Mway was fatally shot by a Utica police officer around 10:20 p.m. on Friday night after police stopped him and another minor while they were walking down the street, police said.
Video circulating on social media shows three officers chasing the boy down a dark street and one tackling him to the ground. The two other cops join in the fray as bystanders yell at the officers.

Are you kidding me? Have you seen what pellet guns look like nowadays? Cops don’t have two seconds to assess a situation let alone what kind of gun is being used at 10:20 at night. What’s the 10 year old kid doing out that late? Where are his parents? Why was he pointing a gun at police officers? Why would anybody point a gun at police officers and not expect to get their brains blown out? All good questions except for leftists. It’s sad only because the cops had to shoot someone who was asking for it.

Pellet guns are supposed to display a strip of bright orange tape, for exactly this reason.
Gama makes a CO2 powered pellet gun that could deliver a fatal shot if it hits you in the chest or throat. Why not stop when ordered to by police? Why pull out a pistol, pellet or not, and aimmit at the police. I wonder what he expected then to do when he pulled it out?
The article doesn't say anything if the kid was legally in possession of the pellet gun.
Bottom line, you don't walk around at night when you are 16, carrying or flashing a pellet gun that resembles a Glock.
Even more so when you are 13.
Thanks for the correction. I thought he was 16. That makes it even worse. He wasn't legally allowed to have that gun on him.

I’m pretty sure that in NY that even applies to air soft guns that shoot the small soft pellets. Even ones that look like toys. (Of course people paint their regular guns goofy too.)
Here in Washington state some security guard (works at some clothing store) was parked outside a Big 5 and saw some kids going into the store carrying what he presumed to be guns.
He went out to confront them and a scuffle ensued. He ended up shooting and killing one of the kids (17 years old). The story is the kid was going in to try to get help on how the magazine worked with the gun.
Security guard is being held on murder charges. The boys tried to tell the guy they were pellet guns. The 17 year old dropped his to the ground when told to. But then the guard said he reached for his waist as if to grab another gun (there wasn’t one). Shot the kid 7 times. 6 times in the back. Oh - the off-duty guard was waiting in the car for his son to get out of karate class.
The article says a Glock replica was recovered from the scene. Presumably this was the pellet gun. Vic and family were and are Burmese. Utica has a large Burmese community so that part is my education for the day. I guess they don’t use the term Myanmarian.
Bodycam video shows the teen taking off and running from already being detained by police. Same video shows ONE SHOT fired by a cop who then picked up the weapon the teen flashed. A Glock lookalike from what I could see. After clearing and inspecting it the cop mentioned "it's a 22". In reality it was a pellet gun or CO2 Umarex G19, I guess. Either way, it looks like a real gun.
Kids are dumb, this one maybe was an armed robber too.
Back in the early ‘70s you could buy starter pistols, tear gas guns and pot metal replica guns for about $30 bucks from ads in the back of various magazines.
They had snub nose revolvers, SAA cowboy guns, Luger’s and the one I bought with my dish washer cash, a 1911 replica.
I was 14 and thought it was just about the coolest thing ever, it disassembled like the real thing, had a magazine and chambered solid brass dummy rounds, the slide worked, etc.
It had a partial plug, a ridge inside the barrel and lacked the firing pin assy but it did have an extractor, recoil rod, barrel bushing etc.
The co-owner of the diner, Tony, was an Italian guy from NYC nearly beat my a** when I flashed it at him.
Once his partner Walter, a ringer for Hal Linden of Barney Miller calmed him down and he let go of me they gave me a serious talk about being stupid and getting killed.
It must have worked, I’m 65 now but I marvel at what a dumb kid I could he.

Just watched the See BS news story on this. It was a Glock, pellet pistol.
The kid ran when he was going to be frisked and flashed the pistol at the cops chasing him. They yelled “gun”, the Caught the kid and took him down. During the struggle ( why do they fight) the cops shot the armed perp. Stupid should cause shorter lifespans.
The comments section of the NYPOST article are more informative than the article itself.

I don’t think the pigs care about murdering a kid. They all work for the state and have no problem gunning down innocent citizens.
What a shame that off-duty security guard is now going to be tried for murder. I'm sure he's wondered over and over since then, why he didn't just ignore them. All it takes is a split second for your whole life to change. I was a Peace Officer in NY State for 25 years. Could have purchased weapons on my badge, but never did. I didn't like guns, but had to qualify each year in order to keep my Peace Officer status. My two sons were 17 and 13 at the time I took the job. Back in 1980, I'd only been a divorced mother for about a year. Because I couldn't be home 24 hours a day, I didn't want to take the chance of bringing a weapon into my home. My oldest son has always been level-headed. Never gave me a bit of trouble. It was my youngest son who I worried about. He never thought twice before doing anything stupid...like trying to do a Karate kick, having never taken a Karate lesson in his life, and ended up dislocating his knee, and breaking two bones in his leg. I told both of them when I took the job in NY State Corrections, that if either of them didn't anything to get themselves put in jail, not to expect me to come visit them. Fortunately, neither of them ever did.
Sometimes all it takes is getting the be-Jesus scared out of you to help you realize things. I grew up in the 50's, and my father who came to this country from Holland in 1913, always told us kids to respect the law, and the police, and not do anything that would end up with our freedom being taken away. It made an impression on me as a kid. My mother always told us four kids to think twice before doing something we thought might be wrong, and to think of what could go wrong if we did it, and the possible repercussions that could occur from our actions. That stuck with me my whole life. She was a wise mother.
I love guns so much I plan to marry an UZI.
I looked for a CO2 Umarex G19 pistol, all I saw were .177 caliber, not 22 caliber. Big difference in bullet weight. But is potentially lethal under some circumstances.
I’m terribly sorry the young man lost his life needlessly and so very young. Cannot help thinking about my childhood. I am sad and pray for his family. Nothing is as sad as losing a child.
I grew up on a farm. Our house was almost a mile to nearest neighbor’s house. 4 miles from town.
First time I ever fired a rifle, was setting in my father’s lap in a pasture looking out the window. He showed me how to hold and aim the rifle, It was a 39-A Original Golden Marlin 22 rim fire rifle. Dad never lost his touch with rifle. The last deer he killed was 400 years with a 30-06 Remington 700 BDL with 3-9 scope. Not sure what year he did that, my brother was hunting with him when he did. Dad died 3 years ago at 94. He was a great man. Not a day goes by that I don’t think how it was when I was young, hard work, and hunting and fishing.
Not sure how old I was(7-8) when my brother and I got daisy pump action BB guns. We shot lots of birds with them.
Another Christmas (10?), my brother and I got Crossman 400 Repeater .22 caliber bolt action 10 shot CO2 pellet guns (held 2 CO2 charges). They are lethal. My brother and I killed lots of rabbits and other critters. I still have that rifle. Now I have some pellets for them that weigh 28.7 gr. (standard 22 caliber bullets weigh 40 grains) The velocity is higher on the standard 22 caliber cartridge but not much faster.
When I was 12 I got my first 20 gauge single shot shotgun. My brother and I hunted with the men from that point out. We load a lot of 20 gauge ammo and shot a lot. The old guys (older than dad) could not believe how good we shot dove and quail. For quail you had to be quick even hunting with a dog. We had a series of great bird dogs. I still have that Shotgun.
We went on from there. I’m 76 now, still like to shoot and reload.
Dad was an armorer at a point during WWII, he serviced Quad 50’s and Bofors.
