White House aides fill group chats with distraught messages about the debate: 'Abysmal'

There was chaos inside the White House on Friday as Democrat party operatives, long-time aides, and party donors came to terms with their candidate and boss spectacularly flopping in his disastrous debate with Donald Trump.

A sense of foreboding set in among some Biden acolytes as they absorbed his car crash performance that has veterans of the Obama and Bill Clinton campaigns openly mulling whether he should be replaced.

‘Right now the people are all talking to each other,’ Bill Clinton guru James Carville told DailyMail.com. ‘Trust me it’s way more than the consultant class. And particularly the donor class,’ he said.

The mood inside the White House is ‘not good,’ CNN reported, as shell-shocked aides traded glum observations on group chats. Aides called the performance ‘abysmal’ and ‘ugly.’

Many were so deflated they opted to work from home. 'We’re just commiserating and we didn’t’ want to do that at a desk,’ said one.

President Biden and some of his top surrogates didn’t have that luxury, with the president holding a rally with supporters in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Some aides were so disconcerted by the president's performance in the debate, including several mumbled responses, that they spent last night updating their LinkedIn profiles 'just in case,' Politico reported.

There was an organized effort to circle the wagons, with Pennsylvania’s telegenic Governor Josh Shapiro taking to the airwaves hours after Biden’s debate flop to tell members of his party to ‘stop worrying.’

Shapiro, 51, appeared after key political operatives hit the panic button.

Influential New York Times columnist Tom Friedman called Biden’s performance ‘heartbreaking’ and said he had ‘no business running for reelection.’

This is when your team tells you to clean out the locker. It's turning out to be a great weekend. Oh, and let's go Brandon.

Is that an option no one told me about during my career - "I'm feel a little down so I'm not coming in today"? Really tight ship the Democrats are running in the WH.

This doesn’t sound plausible - they didn’t know? The debate was the first time they saw him like this? For crying out loud...we’ve all seen him like that in numerous other instances - the people actually working in the administration were unaware? They were blindsided by this?

This all sounds like a conceived plan to create momentum to have him removed from the ticket.

X was overwhelmed with pro-Biden posts. It seems so contrived.

The worst thing that can happen is that they replace Biden with a 'centrist' young, good-looking Democrat from a ruby red state. I put centrist in quotes because there is no such thing for a Democrat, but they fool a lot of people into believing that.

Such a democrat exists -- KY Governor Andy Beshear. He would definitely take KY in the general and the undecided females would break for him because he's 'good looking.' This is exactly what happened in his second governor's race. A conservative friend of mine in KY said he was disgusted to hear so many republican women in his circle gush over his looks.

I just hope and pray that Joe and Jill will remain as selfish and strong as Ruth Bader Ginsberg did. The only way the Democrats can get rid of Joe is if he goes along with it. Ousting him against his will is going to be too dirty for even the Democrats to contemplate (and that's saying something).

Stick to it Joe, and stay safe and well!

Let's go, Brandon!

I knew you were talking about Beshear before getting to the second paragraph.

That was a very winnable race...but our candidate was not funded.

And Beshear is no centrist - he could run for mayor of San Francisco he’s so far to the Left.

The comments that the DM has allowed to remain up are far, far mire interesting reading than the article.

And a question for the UK: You lot, including the royals, have been meeting with the POTATUS for years.

What did you keep our Deep State’s secrets, hmmmm?

Why did...

The UK’s Deep State helped ours install the POTATUS...

Here’s hoping for some internecine warfare between the Deep States.

Do ya think???

In the immortal words of Admiral Painter in "Hunt for Red October"- "(Democrats) don't take a dump, son, without a plan."

I’m leaning toward it was a planned deal so that their real candidate will save the day for them with much fanfare before the election . . .and all the Dems will jump on board.

“particularly the donor class”

This is the backbreaker - if the donors dry up, it’s over. Joe won’t be able to ignore it.

“...Pennsylvania’s telegenic Governor Josh Shapiro...”

Oh really? Who the hell thinks Shapiro is “telegenic”? Prior to becoming governor, nobody ever heard of him. He is a clown with a very high opinion of himself, just because Pennsylvania has elected three sniveling JINO’s in a row (Rendell, Wolf, Shapiro).

The donor class just now figuring out their pockets were picked and would have had better odds in a three card Monte game.

______________

Works in a state like KY; however, in this presidential election, bypassing Kamala Harris will set off an unparalleled firestorm in the Dem base. The only one who could possibly avoid this would be Michelle Obama; and then, only if Kamala can be convinced to take a lateral career appointment as a SCOTUS Justice.

Right now it appears Harris has “dug in her heels” (no pun intended) and is not at all willing to accept those terms. She views this as her one chance to assume the presidency; given Biden's disastrous debate performance and his rapidly declining health.
