ASHEVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Huntersville Police and Concord Police said they are still investigating the cases and can’t yet say if the women arrested in Asheville are connected to a string of baseball bat thefts in the Charlotte area.

According to the Asheville Police Department, the women were apprehended after a recent theft at D-BAT located in the 1200 block of Hendersonville Road around 2:23 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said the three women tried to run away from the scene but were held by staff. All three, Veronica Constantin, 41, Alexandra Lonescu, 31, and Jennifer Antonesco, 21, have been charged.

Ryan Query, general manager of D-Bat Concord, believes it is the same group that targeted his store in early June.

He said players and families were talking to him all day Monday about the arrests.

Co-founder Kyle Griffis said after hearing similar reports from a few of his franchise owners, they sent a warning to all 164 locations across the country.

He said the criminals were still able to distract front desk employees and while their cohorts smuggled the bats away into their skirts.

**SNIP**

“What police tell us they think they’re doing is they go to a store, one or two or three stores in a day, and they go to like a UPS store or something, and they ship all the product to one central location to be sold,” he said.

“3 women accused of stuffing baseball bats...up their skirts”

Vibrators would likely satisfy them more, but maybe I’m not up with the times.

(their skirts arrested in Asheville)

How do you handcuff a skirt?

Then again, how do you stuff a wild bikini?

The last names look Gypsy or Romanian.
Why Baseball Bats? Is there much resell value? Toothpicks?
Most times, a bat is a bat is a bat.

I refuse to ask exactly how these women managed to waltz out the store holding bats over 1 meter in length.

How in the world does a single baseball bat cost $300-500?

Same color blouses, no make-up... they may have worn long, full Mennonite type skirts with aprons... lots of room.

My mother is in assisted living in Asheville. When I go to visit I stay at a quality inn in Asheville. One evening a huge group of travelers with tons of kids checked in. Absolutely rude to staff, guests, etc. Their kids ran wild throwing their candy & junk food wrappers all around outside. The group has the most tricked out expensive vehicles. I felt so sorry for the cleaning staff.

Looking at the photo, I bet they really had a plan going when they talked about this.

Yes, they are. People pay it. Almost 60 and I still play softball - teammates trying to convince me to buy a bat for myself = $200-$300.

I would if I played enough to get 500 AB in a year.

Apparently, the regular stock bats go for $40-$90.

“Those bats are actually sold for more on eBay or, you know, these auction sites than they do in our store because they’re hard to get and they’re often exclusive to only very, very few stores,” he said.

Constantin, Lonescu, and Antonesco: Gypsies. Romanian gypsies without a single doubt.

I despise that scum. Imagine a culture where the First Commandment is Grift thy neighbor.
