The WNBA star is making waves in the American sports mainstream

Caitlin Clark has become one of the most popular athletes in the United States, even surpassing Patrick Mahomes in terms of popularity with sports fans.

The 22-year-old, a rookie sensation for the Indiana Fever, was the No.1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after breaking the all-time points scoring record in the NCAA with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Caitlin Clark in hilarious moment with her unexpected response to a reporter But her rise from college athlete to WNBA mainstay is now secure, with fans following her all over America as she begins her career with the Fever.

According to ESPN's data, Clark ranks as the fourth "most-favorited active athlete," which puts her even ahead of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Mahomes. That is despite the fact Mahomes, 28, is a three-time Super Bowl champion and arguably the most high-profile QB in the NFL.

Clark has only been trumped by U.S sport stars such as NBA icon LeBron James, golfer and 14-time Major winner Tiger Woods, and another NBA hero, Steph Curry.

Her popularity at such a young age is remarkable, especially considering her recent transition from a college star at Iowa to a professional player in the WNBA. Clark's impact has been profound, driving significant TV ratings and selling out arenas.

Her influence is reshaping the league, making the Fever's games must-watch events, with other stars such as Angel Reese, A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart propping up the league too.

Caitlin Clark's influence in U.S sport

Beyond her basketball achievements, Clark's influence extends into various aspects of sporting culture. She has been seen energizing crowds at NBA playoff games, engaging with fans, and even making appearances on prominent television shows like 'Saturday Night Live', embracing her new status as an A-list celebrity.

Her appeal is not just limited to her on-court prowess but also her charismatic personality and relatability, which have endeared her to fans across the country.

Of course, there are critics of how Clark's rise has been prioritized over other black players who are regarded as being on a similar level of talent, but are overlooked due to their race.

But few can argue with her achievements in her youthful career so far, and she is well on the road to become the U.S's most marketable athlete in the future.

It’s a long road to hoe, to make it popular, but they have to take advantage while it’s hot, like Cabbage Patch Kids, Beanie Babies, or Tickle Me Elmo.

Hadn't heard of her, but she has some impressive accomplishments and solid stats. Maybe she doesn't have the on court charisma of Clark, but they'll all get more notice now that Clark has stirred so much interest and live attendance and TV viewership is up a huge margins.

We No Can Dunk! But Good Fundamentals!

The problem is, in the past when I've (rarely) seen clips of the WNBA they didn't look like they had good fundamentals or competency.

This is why nobody watches the WNBA...

I've only seen clips of Angel Reese. But her fundamentals were lacking. She is unable to make simple layups.

Mahomes, mahomes, he is ancient history.

Caitlin Clark? I wish her the best. She is a, “one of a kind!”

I will follow her struggles with the wnba’s black lesbian bitches but never see her play.
I haven’t watched any basketball since I found out that it was as fake as wrestling!

Good luck, Caitlin.

I must be missing something here. Popular athletes #1, #2, and #3 are all African American (Curry is light skinned, Tiger is darker, and LeBron is dark skinned, but they are all considered black by present-day racial standards). Caitlin just happens to be the most popular white athlete, but she doesn't even get the bronze, much less the gold, for athletes in general.

It’s a long road to hoe

Not necessarily a good phrase to use concerning the WNBA 🙃

You don't have to watch a whole game. But that girl can definitely play ball. She can make 3s from all over the court.

Why has Angel Reese failed to be popular? She things she is entitled to it, but few want to to watch her play or many others play. Could it be the attitude of so many in the WNBA?

I am not going to totally subscribe to Mythical Racism as to why Clark is popular. I think it lies in the vales she was raised with and her commitment to being a good player and not having the entitled attitude so many others have.

She may well end up leaving the WNBA and when that happens there goes the surge of interest in the league. The players are trying to get rid of the only real star the league has.

Then she will fill a lot of seats so the more money she brings in the more she will be paid. At least that’s how it works in other sports.

All this hype to make some money. She is the Great White Hope and precieved to be a savior of a financially bankrupt business model. Ugly lesbians, American hating, racist black hood rats bouncing a little ball. Nobody watches, nobody cares. Nobody will know who she is in 5 years, after the female thugs knock her out of the league of their own.

Why has Angel Reese failed to be popular?

She is. She made twice as much NIL money as Caitlin Clark.

They are overlooked due to their intense dislikability.

Clark is the hero; Reese is the heel. Vince McMahon is obviously consulting.
