How did my personal medical info get out?
Self | 06/21/2024 | self

Something very odd happened to me yesterday.

I had noticed a mole on my back that concerned me and rather than wait a few weeks for an appointment, I dropped into my dermatologist for him to have a quick look. He gave me a name for it, "Seborrheic Keratoses", and said it benign and was nothing to worry about. He sent me off with a pamphlet about it.

I had not done any searches online, for either skin cancer in general or for this specific lesion, not now or ever. I have watched cardio docs on Youtube, but it doesn't suggest them often on my YT homepage. You can imagine my shock when I opened YouTube last evening, and up popped a video (first choice) about how to tell if you have one!

Here is the link to video made by a dermatologist over a year ago. It is not a new video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXSJyXW1EHo&t=6s

I honestly don't know what to make of this. I cannot think of any action I took online that indicated an interest in this topic, and the only two people in the room were the doctor and nurse. I suppose it's possible someone leaked the info to big G (owner of YT), but it would be a blatant violation of HIPPA and I can't imagine anyone th the medical field risking that.

Does anyone have an idea of how this medical tidbit got from my doctor's lips into the machine within eight hours? ? This is so specific, so soon after discovery... what the heck is going on?

If you have a smart watch or phone, it’s listening plus AI knows where your phone is at all times.

One more thing - there’s only been this one video, no others suggested.

Did you Google “Seborrheic Keratoses”? That would explain it. Big Brother is wathcing you. Get a Linux phone and use DuckDuckGo.

Did you have your phone with you? If so, that is the answer. I and others I know have had similar things happen to us.

Phones listen. They are not allowed anywhere near secure locations. Don't doubt that they do listen. Don't doubt it for a minute.

A cell phone’s mic is always on, I believe.

Did you happen to speak about it with anyone, a friend or family member?

Your phone hears everything you say.

I was talking about a band that I had not heard in a long time and decided to do a search on it... the band name popped up as soon as I opened the search engine.

Even if you were just having a conversation with yourself, your phone still heard it.

You have location turned on on your phone?
Any sort of google enabled tracking?

I would look there...Google knows where you been.

I think its not nefarious by the Dr. I think its a Google thing...I would be interested in others ideas.

Alexa was a thought, but I never used the name before I saw the video. It’s not something that rolls off your tongue :)

Your cell phone. They will never admit it but I believe that the cell carriers “listen” to your conversations and sell those conversation topics to companies.

And, I forgot to mention, if you brought your phone into the doctor’s office, it heard the conversation between you and your doctor.

I’m to have surgery soon and I told my doctor that I want to watch youtube videos of the surgery. So far, youtube has not suggested any videos of that surgery. (On my hand, for severe osteoarthritis.)

This is the only explanation I can come up with too. Thanks, I thought I was paranoid.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PEGASUS
Developer(s)NSO Group
Initial releaseAugust 2016
Operating systemiOS, Android
TypeSpyware
Websitewww.nsogroup.com

Pegasus is a spyware developed by the Israeli cyber-arms company NSO Group that is designed to be covertly and remotely installed on mobile phones running iOS and Android.[1] While NSO Group markets Pegasus as a product for fighting crime and terrorism, governments around the world have routinely used the spyware to surveil journalists, lawyers, political dissidents, and human rights activists.[2] The sale of Pegasus licenses to foreign governments must be approved by Israeli defense ministry. [3]

As of March 2023, Pegasus operators were able to remotely install the spyware on iOS versions through 16.0.3 using a zero-click exploit.[4] While the capabilities of Pegasus may vary over time due to software updates, Pegasus is generally capable of reading text messages, call snooping, collecting passwords, location tracking, accessing the target device's microphone and camera, and harvesting information from apps.[5][6] The spyware is named after Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology.[7]

ransomnote: I've seen security experts talk about getting a phone that can't be monitored. I think James O'Keefe presented a commercial for such phones - he started by saying, "As you know, our phones listen to us."

ROBO callers are rampant on the internet today. I get several
a day but I don’t answer. I let it go to answer mode and they
never leave a message and I block them to my phone there after.
