How to test for alligators in Florida:
Stick your hand in the water
if it is wet, there is probably an alligator
If it is bitten off
there is a big alligator

All of FL is lousy with gators but Seminole County is ground zero.
Here’s how you can tell if there are gators in a Florida lake. Walk to the edge and put your hand in the water. If it comes out wet there’s gators in the lake. π

Darwin was wide awake cleansing the gene pool. How could the gene pool be "cleansed" if he's still alive?

Around here itβs coyotes that might go after peopleβs pets. Donβt need a license to shoot them here. If thereβs one in your yard, youβre allowed to get it.

No coyotes, but bobcats fill the role where I live.

Have you ever been to Jack Willie’s in Oldsmar? There’s one that hangs out in the water there and it’s salt water (or brackish).

I never worried about them when I used to water ski when I was a teenager.

Ask yourself these questions:
* Are you in Florida
* Is there a lake?
If you answered YES to these, then there’s a gator in the lake.

Florida alligator test.
1. Cautiously approach the body of water that may/may not contain alligators.
2. Briefly place three or four fingers in the edge of the water.
3. Wiggle your fingers quickly.
4. Are your fingers wet?
5. There is probably an alligator in that body of water.

I like gator meat. I hope you had plenty. Itβs not the cheapest meat, and sometimes, itβs strangely fibrous.

Yes.
Jack Wille’s is still there, but that gator got too big.
Don’t know the final deposition of said gator.
